Both sexes look exactly alike and there is only two ways to determine which is which.
1 interenal examination by a vet to look for testes or ovaries
2 DNA testing from a blood sample usually taken by pulling a feather and sending it away for analasis.
There is no way anyone can determine sex of these lovely little birds from the outside.
Usually the best way is to put a few in a flight and let them sort themselves out in to pairs.
Watch and see if one mounts the other and then you will know which is the male and which the female.
Both sexes pick up nest material and place it in between feathers on thier backs to carry it to the nest.

What you have heard is true. Don't know if you have your birds together in the same cage or their age. I found out that my first Peach (hand fed) was a female when she was about 1 yr old. She laid an egg, unfertilized, no other birds in the house, no other birds at all, just laid an egg!
I got another Peach face (dark factor peach) as a baby and handfed myself also. The birds were in two seperate cages and eventually in two seperate houses. I could totally tell a difference in the way the newer bird behaved as compared to the first bird. Still, not knowing for sure the sex of the second bird, they were put together due to a move because they both have huge cages and only one cage was fitting at the time. I found out real quick that the second bird was a male. So for the last year I've been handfeeding babies and terrible to say, but throwing eggs out as soon as they're layed because these things are worse than rabbits!
If your looking to breed lovebirds - my couple is going for free, they come with a large cage and tons of toys and accesories. Contact me at tammy_godwin@sbcglobal.net
I'm in Texas, hopefully this is a luck thing and you are too!
As far as figuring out the sex of your bird, females will tend to pick a their feathers and prune themselves more than males.Males are more friendly and people oriented even when both are hand fed from babies. They begin to pick up the tell all habits. A female will put seed casings in her tail feathers or under her wings, even before she ever lays an egg- I thought my first bird was a female because of those actions. I was right. A male sign is the regurgitation of food. A male will eat and spit out his food on a perch or on the side of the cage or a favorite toy. Anyway... I've got a mating pair and a nice big cage - FREE! The cage was $80.00 alone and I've got two more in my garage that are even bigger. Take you pick!

Hi,
Yes it is difficult to determine the sex of peachfaces.
The feeling of the pelvic bones is the only way other than surgical or dna testing.
And u will need someone who knows how to do this, to show you, rather than me explain, take it to a pet shop that can sex peachfaces but find out first.
In the case of the pelvic bones, the females have a wider space inbetween than the male or if in the case of a bird just left the nest,
depending on the bird of course it can be difficult, so best to wait a couple of months.
Good luck, take it to a pet shop that has a clue about birds predominantly.

Hi u can try dna sexing. However, i have noticed that males tend to be stockier with a fatter tail as compared to a female.
In addition, females tend to be mroe aggressive and would often tear newspapers stuffing them into their wings

Males have a blue colour spot at the place where their bill starts. Females don't have this.
