It depends if you have "protected no claims" on your policy. It allows you so many claims in a given period (think it's usually 1 per year?) without losing your previous years of no claims. I've got it and when I was involved in an accident last year, the ins.co. paid out but I didn't lose the years of not claiming that I had built up so still enjoy a good discount on my premium.

It might not be exactly a no claims bonus. Might be whether you have an at-fault claim not just a claim. Depends on the carrier. You'd need to ask.

Hi,

A protected no-claims bonus , is usually only valid if you stay with the same insurer.
traditional no-claims bonus, ie if you really havent had any claims, is usually tranferable

By paying a small premium you can 'insure your insurance'.
It's called a 'protected no-claims' and normally entitles you to one 'accident' per year - or two in a three year period.

Worthwhile if you can get it!!
