I'm making a "chocolate rum mousse" recipe which calls for a couple of teaspoons of rum.

Does anybody have any ideas for a handy non-alcoholic substitute I can use for the rum that would make it taste pretty much the same?

You should be able to find rum extract in the baking section, near where the vanilla extract is. This is one of the more common flavors which is extracted to avoid using alcohol. However, you know if it is going to be cooked, the alcohol burns off anyway.

Gotta agree with the others... Either pure vanilla extract, or rum extract (both can be found in the baking section of the grocery store)

Use rum essence. You'll find it in the baking department of any supermarket.
