Steve knew the risks he was taking and enjoyed doing so. He spent a number of visit to the intensive care units of hospitals during his career and was fully aware that one day he might not make it.

He brought pleasure and knowledge to millions and died doing what he enjoyed.

Yeah, poor sod.Wrestling with crocs and then getting snuffed by a manta ray, which hardly ever hurts people, is like coming back from a SAS assignment in Iraq without a scratch and being struck by a meteorite on the way to pick up the groceries.

Completely, We have been watching the childrens Croc Files all morning on Discovery Kids
Its tragic, he had 2 kids himself. Great man who will be sorely missed

yes, he was my idol when I was young, I even had a pet snake. It's so sad, especially as he is leaving his wife and 2 kids behind. He did loads to raise awareness about so many endangered animals, not to mention all he did for Australia zoo. Alot of animals are better off because of him.

I am sure my answer will upset some people and it is not meant to, but no I wasn't shocked as I have seen too much footage of him taking risks. So it was not a surprise!

Yes, I didn't even know.
I just read that a stingray hit him w/ the barb on its tail while was swimming over it. He was filming a segment 4 a new show he was doing w/ his daughter.

Terıble news, he was a great envıromentalist and will be truly missed. everybody thought a croc would eventually get him. shame i feel for his family.

I think it was something that was bound to happen at some point - he really lived on the edge where being with dangerous animals was concerned. It is very sad though.....

God yes i am very sad thats such a tragic thing has happened to such a nice fella,he was fantastic to watch me and my daughter watched him all the time on discovery ,very very sd time for hes wife and especially hes kids.May he rest in peace. x
