Simple! Sometimes they are more mature than their peers. Some times their peers seem like total idiots! You want some one that you can feel comfortable with, relate to, not be on your guard every time your around them.
From the time I was 13 I prefered older for this reason! Of course I am much older now!

Because they're not very bright, are looking for a mother figure or feel more mature. It's really a terrible idea, as a man needs to be a leader, not as one looking for a mother figure.
