They have more accute senses than humans. Many dogs are acutely alert to seizures through means essentially unknown to humans. There are a number of theories out there, but none have been proven definitively. One of the theories is they are sensitive to the neurological changes which occur when a seizure is imminent, which would in a way mean they have a 6th sense beyond the typical five. But some belive they smell it or detect other signs which humans don't or can't perceive, though still through standard senses of sight, sound, smell...
Some animals have extra sense, sharks for example can detect brain activity by 'reading' the electical impulses which occur within any living thing.

Dogs have a great sense of smell, sometimes it is mistaken for a sixth sense as in picking up on details in a human.
No I do not feel they have a sixth sense, they are just able to pick up on smells like cancer/drugs for instance that we are unable to.
They also have better hearing than us and can sense an outside intruder long before us. Hearing and smell of a strange nature alerts them. Yes dogs are smart but can they detect a future event? No not more than a few miles than before we can.

This depends how you mean a sixth sense. dogs, like wolves have a strong tracking instinct, that would help a wolf to find food, or its way back to the pack, so if your talking about when people say that dogs have a sixth sense beacause they can find their way home from miles away, then this is just a saying to describe the dog's great ability to find its way home. its instincts come from its ancestors, wolves.

Yes. I believe they do have a sixth sense. They can smell, see and most important, sense things that we cannot.I myself have had many many unexplained things that my dogs do, that make no sense to me, but obviously to them, they feel something. They are earth angels.
