PS: Labneh is a dish made from yougurt....

yes it is somewhat like eachother...except the labneh you recieve in containers is more moulded and thicker. Sour cream you get as a dips is beaten to make it thinner.this excludes the flavoured labneh.

No, Labaneh (arabic dish) and sour cream are not the same and nor are they similar to each other!
The only similarity is that they are both dairy products!

as a middle eastern (israel) i can definitely tell you that labaneh and sour cream are not the same thing at all. labaneh is dried yogurt. sour cream is a pretty fatty cream made out of fresh milk. it's usually between around 16% fat, and it's much less sour than a good homey yogurt. in hebrew we call it shamenet hamutza, in case we are in the same parts of the middle east.
