Actually no, it's not recommended. I don't know much about "perms" but if you are talking about a relaxer, then no its not recommended.

No do not wash your hair! It will open your pores and the perm will burn the hell out of you. If you think your hair will look a complete mess if you don't do something to it, just wash is gently with pure water for a few seconds or mins. DON"T rub your scalp! That will wash the gel out. Make sure you tell the stylist what you did the night before she will know how to put in the perm so it will work and not burn you too much.

Actually, you can't wash your hair for at least a week before perming. Just don't use the gel. And take care to not scratch at your scalp. Only do it if it itches that bad. I'm telling you this from perm instructions I read.

then you need to wait, u can'y wash your hair at least 2-3 prior. 1, your scalp will be irritated from scrubbing, 2, each hair shaft will not be in a closed relaxed state, therefore making it fragile for brackage. Ask your hair dresser if the perm will take over the gel.

The perms that I give allow people to shampoo before getting one...in fact your stylist will probably shampoo your hair with a clarifying shampoo to get any build-up out of your hair. After the perm you should wait 48 hours before you shampoo again.

If your receiving a "curly" perm, you may shampoo, most likely theyll shampoo you with clarifying shampoo before perming anyway...BUT>>> If you are getting a relaxer put on your hair, DO NOT SHAMPOO!! I am a proffesional stylist for 10 yrs.

just use shampoo if you have to get the gel out... maybe a tiny bit of conditioner on the ends of your hair but not very much, make sure you tell the salon the next day, I don't think it will be a problem!
