Tonight I noticed there's a small (about penny-sized I suppose, but not that raised) lump on my left armpit. It's painful and a bit hard if I press it, and it's skin-colored; not red or anything.

I'm also beginning to experience a sore throat. I also have two mouth sores; I've been getting these periodically since I was little, but they've been happening more and more frequently.

Back in March, I had a hard lump behind my ear that subsided in a month. It wasn't too painful when I pressed it.

So does anyone have any idea what this painful lump on my armpit is?

I sounds like a swollen lymph node. If you don't see improvement in a day or so, or if it gets any worse, see a doctor soon.

It could be a swollen gland - which is a sign of infection in your body. (you also have glands behind your ears and at the base of your skull in the back - right above your neck) The mouth sores definately are a sign of something wrong also. PLEASE go see a doctor! The lump in your armpit could be something even worse - so please have it checked out soon - Do Not ignore it - it could be that your immune system is run down - and if so you could catch anything at this point so go to the Doc!

Its most likely just a swollen lymp node. If you have a sore throat you may have a minor infection, which would cause your lymph nodes to swell. (if you feel your neck there are two nodes that often swell with a sore throat) It could also be am ingrown hair. If your really concerned, call your gyne and get it checked out. They include this in a breast exam..

I think I get those from time to time. I especially think I have gotten a lump on my armpit before too. I don't think anything is wrong with you. But if you want to really know whats going on then go to a doctor. But I think they will say nothing is wrong with you also.

I've had that before. It's probably a swollen gland but go get it checked out by a doc to be on the safe side.

You have glands in your armpits that should not normally be swollen. Sometimes when they are, it could indicate one of several conditions.

Go to a doctor and have it checked out.

Bacterial infection of the hair root or an enlarged lymphnode.
Either ways meet a doctor. You would need oral antibiotics.

I'm not a doctor but it could be an ingrown hair that has become infected.
