My mother is the executive director of Right to Life in New Mexico. I asked her this question, and she says, "Sometimes war is necessary in the world." I respond, "Maybe ... sometimes abortion is too." She shuts down. She can see gray in one area but not in another. I am frightened of Christians who only love the fetus.

Bush believes that a fertilized egg is a human life worthy of the protection of federal law and he frequently encourages a "culture of life". This is the man that has the record for executions, killed at least 50,000 innocent civilians in Iraq and Afghanistan, probably another 10,000 actual "targets", and sent thousands of our own troops to their deaths.

I have family members who are hypocrites on these issues. They are the biggest bible-thumpers. I worry that their souls are doomed.

Similar question could be, how could a person be a pro-lifer and believe in capital punishment. As a Christian I believe in being consistent. Times when an abortion may be necessary? When the life of the mother is at stake. AND... sometimes war is necessary.

Great point. I don't see any of those pro-lifers taking in all of the abandoned, unwanted crack-addicted babies born to unwed prostitute mothers. If it weren't for abortion, there would be a lot more of them. I am not in favor of abortion - I think people should take more responsibility for PREVENTING an unwanted prenancy. But as a last resort, abortion should always be safe and legal for anyone who needs to choose that option. If it really is such a huge sin, then all of these "believers" should be satisfied with letting God punish them.

I'm frightened of Christians too. You never know what kind of crap their ministers are going to say on Sunday that might get people killed on Monday. You can't walk in front of an abortion clinic for fear of a lurking Christian defending one sperm or another. You never know when they are going to break into your bedroom with a test tube and scrape a wet dream off your sheets and kill you for being human.
You can be sure of one thing, the data doesn't lie, just as many Christians get abortions as any other group when the gray areas come home to roost for real.
Fear the breast beaters, defend against the Anti-Science.

It's not about "life", it's about controlling women. When a woman is pregnant, they use it as a means of dictating how she lives. Once the baby is born, they can't do anything to women, so they don't care about the kid.

"Pro lifers" are usually strongly theistic in the same way as those who owned slaves or the Nazis or whomever. The absolute certainty of "our religion/culture/language/skin is right" makes it easier to dehumanize and kill others, hence why war is no problem for them: those being killed are the "others", the "untermenschen", or in the current case, "muzzies".

And for the dreadfully uninformed "danhowell_diana", here are some quotes from "Mein Kampf":

"The best characterization is provided by the product of this religious education, the Jew himself. His life is only of this world, and his spirit is inwardly as alien to true Christianity as his nature two thousand years previous was to the great founder of the new doctrine. Of course, the latter made no secret of his attitude toward the Jewish people, and when necessary he even took to the whip to drive from the temple of the Lord this adversary of all humanity, who then as always saw in religion nothing but an instrument for his business existence. In return, Christ was nailed to the cross, while our present-day party Christians debase themselves to begging for Jewish votes at elections and later try to arrange political swindles with atheistic Jewish parties — and this against their own nation."

"Hence today I believe that I am acting in accordance with the will of the Almighty Creator: by defending myself against the Jew, I am fighting for the work of the Lord."

For you to claim Hitler was not a christian is as disgusting as if you had claimed Hitler didn't kill any jews. What's next, you're going to claim Hitler was gay as some christians do?

In case you have never bothered, try reading the words of Martin Luther and his hatred of jews; many of his ideas are cornerstones of Nazism.

How people like you get through high school without ever reading a single book on history I will never understand.

Because you can morally defend yourself against an aggressor. The unborn child is totally innocent and is only guilty of existing.
That's a hell of a difference.

Excellent question! Also, it seems that most "Anti-choicer's" are for the death penalty.

So, die in an illegal war, so what. Die after being convisted of a crime in America (guilty, maybe...), so what. Die before you're born, NO WAY!

think about this. When we give our age, we don't add 9 months to our birthdate. BECAUSE WE"RE NOT HUMANS YET! We're called fetus' because we're not yet human. So "Anti-choicers" are ok with humans dying, but not with things that are not human dying. Can anyone make sense of this?!?

How can Pro-choicer's not give children choice in their education?

How can Pro-choicers kill innocent babies with impunity and think capital punishment is wrong?

How can Pro-choicers decry Gitmo Bay and support stabbing innocent babies in the base the skull and sucking their brains out?

How can Pro-choicers decry the "immoral" tragedies in Iraq and still believe it is moral to kill innocent babies?

Barbarianism is barbarianism no matter who the perpetrator is....

Why should innocents be killed. Why should the guity go free. I somehow find the idea that
1. terrorists should be permanently stopped and that
2. babies should not be killed
rather appealing. Please explain why babies and not terrorists should be killed?

also mc hummer Nazi's followed darwin more than the bible. Master race=most evolved race.

"Necessary" war doesn't make it any less immoral. Sure it may be done for the better of one's country. But does that make it "right"?
