I have come across Q&As regarding incest and it's appalling to see that some people mention certain areas in the US when they discuss about incest...for example if a person asks an incestuous query the answerer may ask him "ARE You from West Virginia" etc...Im not from the US but pls.let me know whether there is a connection between incest and certain parts of USA..it's really interesting...pls reply...

in some areas of the country , people are quite backwards . the behavior that takes place there is mostly restricted to these states . in other states it is considered sick , in the states where these transgressions take place .............it is almost acceptable behavior . thus the stereotyping .
no offense to people who reside in those states , and don't participate in incest and other things such as bestiality .

No, it is just an American joke. Certain states have bad reputations as being slightly behind the times and are considered to be full of red necks. States like West Virginia, Alabama, and Mississippi are usual targets. It is actually quite biased of people to make these jokes and is not based on fact but is suppose to be humorous.

West Virginia gets hit the most with this because of the movie deliverence. This film depicted a backwoods village with deformed people (because of incest).

Just think of your country. Don't you have area's where...dumber people live, an area where they are supposed to be more religious of real party people? Same in this case.
