We are waiting on the results of my son's Whooping Cough test. (I am nearly convinced that is what he has.) He's 16 mos old. For anyone who's been through this with a young child (under 2), was there anything you were able to give them that enabled them to sleep? My son hasn't had more than 15 min of uninterrupted sleep in the past four days. His Ped recommended Delsym, but that was before they suspected whooping cough. The Delsym isn't working. Please don't tell me I need to ask his doctor. He's obviously under medical care and I WILL ask about cough medication once they can confirm his diagnosis. For now, I'm just curious as to other people's experiences.

I wanted to add that the reason I believe he might have this, is whooping cough starts with symptoms that are indistinguishable from a cold or other upper respiratory infection. Two and a half weeks ago, we thought he did have a cold. However, now all of his cold symptoms are gone, but he has this pitiful, non-stop, hacking cough. He's had it for a week now, but it's worsened in the past few days.
