You have hit the nail on the head with that one...and you will probably be condemned to a few different hells for posting something like this--don't let it bother you.
I do like the basic moral principles that religion TRIES to influence in it's believers, but I think somehow it is "lost in translation" if you know what I mean. I think religion acts more as a devisive mechanism more than anything and it's becoming more obvious as of late.
What I don't get is how can you possbily take a book that was written so long ago and apply it LITERALLY to every aspect of life. For instance, in many religous texts people get "struck down" by God---couldn't have simply been a heart attack or stroke or anuerysm?? Back then people used religion to apply meaning in their everyday lives because they didn't understand the mechanism behind the most basic things. Bacteria wasn't even discoverd until the late 1800's...and mental illness until recently was considered demon possesion.
What I don't get is why people aren't more skeptical with what we know today?!

If there ever is to be some sort of apocalyptic WWIII scenario, I would expect that at least a few religious factions would have key roles in it. History repeats itself, over and over and over again, and it has shown that people are always falling over themselves to wage war in the name of their deity of choice. The problem is that every religion is rooted with the I'm-better-than-you attitude. Couple that with the fear of change and all that is different, and you have a veritable pressure-cooker of desire and need to convert everyone possible. But what happens when the main religions of the world, who are all convinced of their own infallibility, try to convert each other? Again, history has shown that almost nothing good ever comes from that.
That, above all else, is the main problem I have with most organized religions: the fact that they refuse to live and let live. I have no problem with anything anyone wants to believe, and I fully respect their right to do so........as long as the courtesy is returned. Unfortunately, it often'times is not. That disrespect is shown on a local level by people going door-to-door trying to hawk their beliefs, and it's shown on a global level by, say, the current fiasco we have going on in the Middle East.
This world is dying for a little tolerance. And yes, that was a very sad pun.

Unfortunately you are wrong there always was science. Or we all still would be chasing our meals with a club. People don't need a reason to kill they will just do it and assign a reason later. Maybe it will be for the emporer, or the honor of land, you're too close to our boarder, you look different from me, you took something of mine. There is always some dumb reason why people do killing or at least there is always something they willing to put the blame on.
Just like in most houses children fight with each other. Office politics cause many a harmful feeling. It is part of us.

On my opinion, theory began from conceiving the reality that some thing greater beneficial is above us, that some thing greater beneficial can administration all issues way greater beneficial than people could desire to. definite it is real some issues will constantly be left unanswered. this is using fact the completed thought of God is only too complicated to be completely aprehended via a human concepts. We could have the skill get the photograph purely in some unspecified time interior the destiny yet something will constantly proceed to be as a secret. finding the which skill of why you're right this is not a rhetorical question for your self - achievement. locate the which skill of your life is honestly to locate your purpose in life and God's challenge for you.

people just need to learn a few things.
Im not going to tell you what I believe
and I dont give a ***** about what you believe!
Believe what you want, have your personal convictions good for you...YOU not me dont push your sh.t on me!
like today I had a discussion with my dad (a preacher) about abortion, I was raised to be prolife but now I am pro-choice why you may ask? because Im a man that not an issue that I should have a say about. Its a woman issue, I dont agree with abortion but thats as far as it goes, but I am pro-choice because its not my choice and I have NO RIGHT trying to make that choice for someone else!
So religious nuts, christians muslims, athiest whatever
believe what you want, keep your standards but you have no ******** right affecting someone else's life because of YOUR convictions!

no. wars are fought for land, power and authority and greed for more. but people like to make religion as an excuse to do things. all relgions and all beleifs have one message -- be good and do good to others.
but man misinterprests it the wrong way and commits crimes. man makes religion and God as an excuse to fulfilling his own dirty intentions. religion and God is a means of escape for not accepting one's mistakes.

I have carefully raised up my kids to choose Christ so far in their lives. They are not going to be people who start or instigate a war. Because they know that this is not what Jesus would do.
I hope that they would be willing to give their lives for another person, however.
