I would go to the library (probably closed today for it's Labor Day, unless you're in a different country other that US and A) and take a look at a Physicians Desk Reference. Trouble is, some pills are made by individuals and wouldn't be pictured.
Could be MDMA.

You can take them to a pharmacy - if it is any sort of RX - they can tell you. If not - they can direct you to where else to search -
Sometimes High Schools have drug counselors - you can ask them questions about the pill types. They can not do anything to your child as far as getting them in trouble - if they did not find the pills in school. They are able to give you advice and it will be totally confidential. What you do with the info is your business.

Go to www.recoveryfirst.org It lists symptoms, pills, pill descriptions and pictures. It looks like a wonderful site for you to check out. Good luck.

Call your local poison control center and describe the pill. They have a book called idenicode, and if the pill has a number or letter, they can give you the name.

Try that site. There is a huge list of clickable links of pictures and what the drug is. I am thinking that if they were in his backpack there are illegal so the website contains illegal drugs/ abusive drugs.
