Personally, I use humor as a sort of defense mechanism against most bad things, so I fully expect that, when the day comes that I have to face death (hopefully a long time hence), I'll be lying there (assuming I'm lucky enough to die in bed) cracking jokes and trying to cheer everyone else up (assuming I'm lucky enough to have people there to see me off).
That reminds me of a story I read in a book not that long ago. A part of it was about some Allied POWs in WWII being transported in a box car to a new prison camp. There was one guy who started the trip out mildly sick, but as time went on, he got worse and worse. And, in the book, the only things we ever read him say are to the effect of, "Why, this ain't nothin'. I went through way worse back in....etc." He kept saying that the worse he got until the point came where they were his last words.
Anyway, I would prefer to live forever, but, as the Joker always says, "If ya gotta go out, go out with a smile."

Well not laugh at death, but certainly laugh about the fun things in life. Like, I think it is healthy at funerals to be able to laugh at the good times, and tell jokes that include the person who has passed.

I have thought about having a big funeral party just before I die. Music, dancing, drinking; a real blow out. Spend every last cent on a send off, then lie down on the pyre and light it up. Seems to me to be a good way to go. I get to have one last big party then choose to snuff it, unplug the last time.

I would rather a sudden death so I didn't have time to think about it, let alone laugh.

Its okay. I'm cool with that.
In fact, I'll have a banquet at the funeral. There'll be song, dance and lots of good food.
No, not kidding. I'm serious about that.

I would hope that people could be consoled in the happiness we all had, including the jokes. I enjoy people that way.
