You raised an absolutely relevant and important point! My dogs are cross breeds and every time I bring them out for walks, I get passersby looking at them disgustedly. I simply adore them...even more than the 4 pedigrees I had before they died.
My cross breeds have lovely temperaments, are ALWAYS healthy and are FAR MORE intelligent than my 4 pedigrees. My two dogs have only visited the vet as puppies for vaccination and they've never needed to step into the animal hospital ever again. If given a choice, I'd adopt another cross breed again.
I guess people shun cross breeds for two main reasons:
1) Cross breeds have unpredictable temperaments because one of their parents could be a wild/undomesticated dog.
2) Because of the first reason, people wouldn't want to buy cross breeds thus the dogs have lower status than the other pure breeds.
Anyway, the ignorant dog lovers really don't know that they are in fact choking up a hefty sum of money to buy a 'pure breed' like Jack Russell when it's originally a cross breed!

Jokes aside, breeds were developed for specific reasons. Your question is in response to the answers about the current cross breeds being produced. These breeds are only being developed for sale and revenue. I would never tell you a pure bred is better than a mutt. The fact is most "pure bred" dogs are horribly bred by backyard breeders and puppy mills who have no care for development of the breed. A lot of the mutts in shelters have as much or more love to give than a lot of pure bred dogs. Some breeds weren't bred for love and affection. Many of the working breeds were bred to be independent. Mutts can give you the best of both breeds (or all 57 in some cases) but they are less predictable than a pure bred dog in most instances. They are not lesser beings, nor should they ever be treated as such. They are all canine (canis familiarus) and have the same basic gene sequence and every known breed of dog is capable of breeding with every other known breed (it's not always physically possible, but genetically it is.)
Some people love their breed for individual reasons... some people love mutts for individual reasons as well. I happen to love sighthounds, I never want to own another breed or a mutt. That said, I have owned a mutt, a GSD x Akita mix. He was the most loyal and protective dog I've ever met. He had a sense for who was good and who was questionable ;-) He was a shelter dog, and he loved me more than any of my current purebreds. I mean, he would have died defending me, without a second thought; all because I saved him from his cage at the shelter. On the other hand, there are things about sighthounds that I just love. Most of them are very affectionate, they love to run, are usually fairly quiet and discriminate when they do bark. They have quirks, good and bad aspects... but I love them. I wouldn't trade it for the lack of predictability of a mutt again.
There's a right dog for every dog lover... sometimes it's a mutt or a mix or a 'designer hybred' and sometimes it's a pure bred... it all depends on the person.
I do, however, disagree with the current state of affairs of peek-a-poo, labradoodle, puggle, jug, and similar designer mixes. I don't necessarily think they're bad, but the fact is they are only being produced because they sell for good money. That is never the right reason to breed a dog.

i'm going to disprove you comfortably. guy interior the mask is one hundred% incorrect. there is not any such call as "H. Sapiens Africanus". The notice would not even exist. "Africanus" refers to a 2 million 3 hundred and sixty 5 days previous South African primate. 2nd, while relating "Genus", you're relating 2nd in-lining of evolutionary ancestry. even nonetheless, those 2 animals won't be able to interbreed, and can't create fertile offspring. The very element that defines a species is the potential to interbreed. If the Neanderthal guy can interbreed with Homo Sapiens, than the Neanderthal guy is in actuality Homo Sapien. Thirdly, canines breeds and Human race isn't defined because of the fact the comparable concept. canines breeds are guy-made, compelled to enforce diverse traits for an attractive trait. Nature did no longer create the varies form of canines, human did. Human race (phenotype), is desperate by ability of environment. the better the UV rays in a piece, the darker the floor. each breed of canines is a effect of combining 2 canines of diverse traits to create new traits. In different words, new breeds/previous breeds are in actuality mutts/ descendent of mutts. that's while this combination of tangible trait, with an important solid factor on actual. the element is, race is in basic terms a concept, a branch created by ability of the human ideas to describe the actual variations. psychological features isn't all genetic, yet a effect from environmental aspects. If i'm raised by ability of a serial killer kin, then that's extra effective than probable i visit grow to be a serial killer besides. additionally, I see the White Supremacist in this nighttime, out in complete blast. Even going to date as making up their very own terminologies. H. Sapiens Africanus? fairly?

When dog breeds get together, it can produce the best of both breeds or the worst, depending. So to breed willy-nilly with no regard for what you're going to get ends dogs up in pounds who are too agressive or have genetic disorders caused by mixed breeding. So to be safe and have healthy dogs a true breeder breeds to better the breed he owns. All these new designer dogs and people selling Micro tiny toys is a fad at the dog's expense.

Cross breeding is not seen as racial, you see cross breeding in dogs creates more problems than it does in humans.
Some cross breeding in dogs can result in the dog not even being able to feed itself, it's bite (teeth) so under or over shot that the teeth cannot even bite food let alone grind it.
Many cross breedings can result in the mother having difficulties birthing, leading to c sections and even death because she was mated to a much larger dog, her cervix and body incapable of handling the birthing.
You see, it is not a bias, it is a genuine concern for the dogs involved.
You take a certain breed that is placid and cross it with a breed intended for herding, or hunting. This dog then in turn bites a human, the dog is labeled and put to sleep. so not only is the aggressive (intended breeding) dog labeled but so the placid breed.
It is not fair, not to the dog. Regardless of how you feel, I for one feel for the dog. To compare it to humans is pretty ridiculous. It is like mating a chimpanzee to a gorilla, pity the chimp when she gives birth, let alone what the offspring's personality would be like. It is only that dogs are domesticated that we have been able to interfere. If left in the wild these cross matings would not have occurred.
We have genetically interfered with dogs ancestry, it is up to us to keep that ancestry as pure as possible or we will see many other breeds on the potential banning list.
We lead by example, we try not to genetically interfere anymore than what we already have, we stop the countless euthanasias, unwanted puppies put to sleep by the thousands every year.
We educate, we protest, we change attitudes, government steps in, like where I live, you need to be registered to breed now, heavy fines are given to cross breeders, there has to be a reason why government stepped in, not just someone on a high horse as you presume.
I hope I have educated you just a little, if not, check with your local shelter as to how many dogs were euthanized this past year, then maybe you can see why others jump up and down.

I don't own any of these designer poo breeds but I do have a labX (who was a rescue off the streets) and a Shih-tzu/ Japanese Chin cross (who we adopted from a family who couldn't keep him) and I have a pure bred Shih-tzu. My pups are all loved the same whether mongrul or pure bred and they're all treated the same too. ;o)
Oh and JRsOPINION from what I've read mixed breeds have less genetic and health problems than purebreds.

Well . . . humans separe the dog races by they're diferences. All people know how is a dog, but this dog can be a chihuahua or a labrador, and these 2 races are very diferents.
The humans separe the dogs because they are diferents, like humans.

You are assuming there is a pure race. Forget it. Europeans descended from Africa, since Adam & Eve there has been inter-racial breeding and we are the result. Different skin colour, yes. Different culture, yes. Different way of thinking, yes. But, none one of us would pass a 'pure race' test.

I've never known anyone who didn't let their dog breed with a different breed. When it comes to the typical owner, most people I know have a mixed-breed dog.

The humans FEAR thinking out of the box, they play safe in this matter. Offensive is the best defense. So they ridicule other's races before the other can ridicule their race.
