Im planning to go to Spain this December, but my first destination is UK. What's be a better idea? Should I just get it here in Los Angeles (if possible) or when I arrive in UK, just get the Schengen Visa there?

As far as I know there is no Schengen visa any more... You don't need visa for Spain or for any other European country but UK, and you can submit online the form for obtaining UK visa...(this apply if you have American citizenship !)

Of couse there are still Schengen visas. And the new ones have holograms and photos - very, very cool.

The consulate of the country of main destination is responsible for granting the Schengen visa. If you will visit several different countries for about the same length of time each, the Schengen state through which you first enter is responsible for granting the visa. If you intend to visit only one Schengen country, you must apply for a visa at the Consulate of that country.

But are you sure you need a visa? US citizens do not need visas to visit Spain for up to 90 days:

If you're really going only - or mainly - to Spain and need a visa, the consulate general of Spain is at
5055 Wilshire Blvd Ste 860, Los Angeles, CA 90036
