Well, Jesus did have a job on earth as a carpenter, he didn't own a home or have kids. He was and is, God, He and the Father were of one mind.
Now, what is meant by that is:
What would Jesus do in any given situation morally, ethically, Biblically?
When faced with any decision, no matter how small or big, we must ask ourselves these questions:
1. Will this decision please God?
2. Is it morally right?
3. Is it ethically right?
4. Does it violate Scripture?
5. Will it cause harm, either physically or spiritually, to myself or another?
When Jesus was on earth, He always sought to please the Father, did what was morally and ethically right, never violated the word of God and never purposely harmed another person.
I realize there is a caveat to number 5. Sometimes, in extreme circumstances, we will be put into a situation where we have no choice but to harm someone else. God will take that into account.

First of all, Jesus had a job. He was a carpenter until around the age of 30 when he started his earthly ministry which only lasted three years. Jesus was also 100% man which meant God did not talk to Him audibly. When Jesus was baptized the Holy Spirit descended as a dove which symbolized that he relied on the HS for direction just as Christians do today.
What would Jesus do is a phrase men came up with. Being like Jesus in character and priorities is a different matter.

You already got a lot of good answers, but remember.......you are just where God wants you, now you are to grow from there and become what He wants you to be which is conformed to His image.
With Him, all things are possible. He is on YOUR side. He is there for YOU.
He told us to not be weary in well doing, so that means He knew we would get weary, but He gives us strength.
By the way, I knew a preacher who was on the road doing as you said. He was my Dad's best friend. He had six sons. To this day......oh my soul.......none of his children are saved. He is long gone and it is so sad. He neglected his first responsibility.
Do you feel led to preach? Then talk to someone, maybe your Pastor. Three or four in agreement is usually a good sign. Like have three people told you they think you should be a preacher, just out of the blue?
Don't be so hard on yourself. God does not expect more than He gives you to do. God, family, Church....that is all there is to do. If you are a good provider, godly person and faithful what else is there? You are doing the best you know how.
Maybe w/second morgage you are overextending yourself? You may be in a bind but THAT TOO shall pass. The children will grow up and all you need to pass on to them is to know God. THAT is their inheritance.
You CAN do ALL things thru Christ. While on Earth, Jesus had same contact w/Father God as you do. Be still oh my soul and listen.

Not a bad question although your excuses are weak. Jesus' responsibilities far outweigh those any of us have. On top of that God empowers His followers with the Holy Spirit to live the life He commands. How can you do that? Trust in Jesus read the Word of God and walk in the resurrection power of Jesus provided by the Spirit of God. Will you always do that perfectly? Obviously the answer is no. But to make excuses not to because you think it's too hard is silly.

Doing what Jesus would do does not mean you must follow his exact life experiences. If it did, you'd disappear between the ages of 3 and 30! Regardless of your differing career paths, family choices and life expenses, Jesus left concrete examples of the kind of behavior we can exhibit in real-life scenarios.
Fortunately, instead of advising his followers directly what they should do with their lives, he gave examples in the form of parables, stories that could be easily understood, without casting blame or attempting to humiliate individuals.
From what has been documented in the Bible (assuming, at least, some of it is fact), he practiced what he preached on a daily basis. He forgave others for their sins, even when they were deliberately against him. He healed the sick and wounded, even when it was forbidden by law. He fed the poor. He spoke honstely, even when it would cost him his life. These are all things we can do in our everyday lives. The difficult part is having the courage to do them.

your missing the point. Jesus put God first. You can do this by starting your day with prayer and reading of the bible. Being a good witness to others by your behavior in dealing with life and everyday problems. Don't be a martha be a mary............Oh and by the way, you have God to tell you what to do personally also

That's why he gave us directions - his two commands: love God and love humans.
Let this commands guide you.
