have given sermons on the prevalence of incest?

This is a serious question. It's prompted by the apparent confusion about Abel and Cain's wives and the estimated 30% of child molestation that occurs by family members. So, I am wondering if this is a topic ever raised in sermons. Bashers, please just go to the next question.

yes they did preach on that but they said normally it is fuelled by alcohol and drugs that caused the members to act out on their desires. They also said the victims need to seek professional counselling so that they would not take it out on the next generaton. (my church has a specific counselling body that handles this department).

unfortunately nobody has figured out why the rate of incest is so high. They say 1/4 of females and 1/10 of males population experienced some form of molestation(mostly from family members)

although your bibical reference really is a seperate "thing"

perhaps, the reason that this topic is seldom raised in sermons...is that ,maybe, the preacher, pastor, priest, rabbi, whatever....is aware of how hurtful the memories are to those who were abused .....how upsetting it would be for the family to "relive" their child's experiences during a service...and possibly ...the legal constraints placed on the church by the officials to "settle" such cases

In all honesty......not particularly a good subject for a sermon

those abused [including their family and friends] don't need to relive the experience
and those who would abuse....they aren't listening

I've heard it discussed many times and I've taught on it myself. I agree that it should be spoken against, etc.
However, certain things are not suitable for a sermon format because there are children in the audience. You have to be careful about how you say things in front of kids. They should be informed that they have a place to go to if they are being abused, but there's a certain limit to detail you don't want to talk about in front of them.

It is mentioned , but more often in the broader context of either sexual immorality(depravity) or the special punishment Jesus Christ expressed for those who hurt children by keeping them from entering into the Kingdom of God, by influence or deed. A millstone hung around the neck ..

Yes, look, cain married his sister (genetics were pure...God made Adam perfect no mutations) Then God was clear when He passed the LAW in Leviticus 18:6 to 18 that stated you could NO LONGER marry next of kin....

None of you shall approach to any that is near of kin to him, to uncover their nakedness: I am the LORD.
7 The nakedness of thy father, or the nakedness of thy mother, shalt thou not uncover: she is thy mother; thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.
8 The nakedness of thy father’s wife shalt thou not uncover: it is thy father’s nakedness.
9 The nakedness of thy sister, the daughter of thy father, or daughter of thy mother, whether she be born at home, or born abroad, even their nakedness thou shalt not uncover.
10 The nakedness of thy son’s daughter, or of thy daughter’s daughter, even their nakedness thou shalt not uncover: for theirs is thine own nakedness.
11 The nakedness of thy father’s wife’s daughter, begotten of thy father, she is thy sister, thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.
12 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy father’s sister: she is thy father’s near kinswoman.
13 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy mother’s sister: for she is thy mother’s near kinswoman.
14 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy father’s brother, thou shalt not approach to his wife: she is thine aunt.
15 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy daughter in law: she is thy son’s wife; thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.
16 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy brother’s wife: it is thy brother’s nakedness.
17 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of a woman and her daughter, neither shalt thou take her son’s daughter, or her daughter’s daughter, to uncover her nakedness; for they are her near kinswomen: it is wickedness.
18 Neither shalt thou take a wife to her sister, to vex her, to uncover her nakedness, beside the other in her life time
