We are eternal spiritual beings having a temporary human experience, the eternal spiritual body is temporarily covered by five gross material energies and three subtle.

The subtle mind produces the thinking, feeling and willing aspects of our personality and has limited free will to operate within the material modes of nature, the impressions and experiences of the mind culminate in a "playback" at the end of this life, according to the prominant and most desirable activities, the gross material energy operating as an agent of the Supreme will award a suitable body to perfectly match the mentality created, this is material consciousness.

The higher original spiritual consciousness that is eternal, cognizant and unlimitedly blissful, is covered over by these separate material inferior energies.

The spirit soul is the original element which has form and individuality, it is not slain when the body is slain, the symptom of the soul is consciousness, life comes from life, consciousness is not a product of anything material, a television set does not produce the programme, it is a transmitter for the programme, similarly the brain is a transmittor for the consciousness emanating from the spirit soul, it does not produce consciousness merely channels it.

The spiritual person has fallen into this temporary material world due to mis-use of free will, so by reviving our original spiritual being through the process of Bhakti Yoga, we can return back home, back to Godhead.

good question. Almost a chicken and the egg scenario. I have come to believe that my spirit will pay for the mistakes brought on by the temptations of the flesh. What better way for the Creator to test a spirit then to erase the spiritual memory and place said spirit in a physical vessal to test it's moral fiber. Knowing right from wrong or even the ability to have compassion, might be areas She might be testing us on.

I guess I'll have to go with the latter then. Spiritual beings having a human experience

We are human beings having a physical experience, our lack of knowledge of the human brain is why we come to the conclusion of a soul's existence, nobody yet knows. Maybe souls do exists, but it is unlikely that and more likely what we feel is actually some chemicals in our brains or how our third complex part of the brain performs in general that makes us feel spiritual

Oooo, good question. I prefer the spiritual beings having a human experience. But, ya know, it might be the other way around. Lol, explains why I'm an agnostic, eh.

Both and neither. Scripture clearly states that we are both physical and spiritual. Sin has caused the spiritual dimension to become calloused, therefore less sensitive to the Holy Spirit.

In my religious believe we have long held that we have been sent to this earth as spirits so as to allow us to have a human expedience prior to returning to what we call heaven. Knowing that my actions and how I treat other people will reflect on my progression in Heaven.

a)

After all, localisation of brain function kind of limits the other option. :)

This answer? Not really, though the search for truth that led me to implicit atheism has had an impact on how I live.
