Apple Crumble
An apple crisp type of recipe that is very good during apple season. This one is a little different from others by using apple cider and Granny Smith apples. Delicious served warm topped with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Recipe source: Bon Appetit (September 1985)
4-6 servings 1 hour 10 min prep
2 lbs granny smith apples or other green cooking apples, peeled,cored and sliced (16 slices per apple)
1/4 cup apple cider
1/4 cup flour
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1 pinch salt
1/2 cup butter or margarine
Preheat oven to 350-degrees F.
Place apple slices in a 2-quart casserole or baking dish.
Pour cider over apples.
Combine next ingredients ingredients (flour-salt) in a bowl.
Cut in butter or margarine with two knives until mixture is crumbly.
Spoon mixture over apples, spreading evenly to cover all the apple slices.
Bake for 40-50 minutes or until apples are tender and topping is light brown.

* 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
* 1 cup granulated sugar
* 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
* 1/2 teaspoon salt
* 1/2 cup softened butter
PREPARATION:
Place apples in a lightly buttered baking pan or dish, about 10 x 6 or 9-inch square. Add water. Combine flour, sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle crumb mixture over the apples.
Bake apple crunch at 350° for 35 to 45 minutes, or until apples are tender. Serve apple crumble warm with ice cream, if desired.

APPLE CRUMBLE:
2/3 cup flour
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup butter
4 apples, peeled and sliced
2 Tablespoons sugar
Cinnamon, to taste
Place apples at the bottom of greased serving dish. Sprinkle cinnamon and sugar on apples. Mix together flour, brown sugar and butter and spread over top of the apples. Bake at 250 degrees for 30 minutes. Serve with vanilla ice cream or fresh whipped cream.

to make apple crumble ..place an apple on the table and hit it with a cricket bat...if you dont want to do it this way..try verbally abusing it..that MIGHT make it crumble..hehe..
