ouch. First of all, keep in mind that the successor, the S3 IS, can be had for under 400 dollars so the grey market S2 IS had better be much below that.

second, well, you should test it thoroughly. In auto mode, in aperture priority, in shutter priority, in manual. Take lots of shots varying settings, sensitivity, zoom. Examine them on a computer screen.

if you cannot test it quietly for at least a 100 shots in various modes, don't buy it.

basically you won't get any gurantee so make sure the cameras works well and good. that's all i can really say about buygin a grey market cameras. I personally never buy anything in grey market.
