I have monthly standing orders at my bank, £10 go to UNICEF, £10 to OXFAM and £10 go to Dog Trust. I have fund raised for relief in Africa, Aids and dogs charities. From a parachute jump, to bungee jumps (3) also bring and buy, having fun auctions and am now preparing for Christmas. I make typically Irish little gift that i sell and money goes to the charities. I have done that for 20 years in a row and will keep going. Christmas nmeans lots of people buy and the biggest amount of money i sent was for £300.

hard to say, i give money out time and again, but never great sums.. i don't particularly trust funds and charities, prefer to do what i can to help individual people, financially or otherwise. With most charities, even if they are trustworthy, a large amount goes to cover administrative needs, esp with big charities, so you can never tell how much of what you contributed reaches the people, if anything at all
it's so sad a paltry thing like money drives people's lives

not much, charity starts at home then there is not much left. I give to the homeless, maybe roll them a cig. a girl was helping to pack bags at Asda, dont know what charity it was for but I put my loose change in a bucket she had, I admit it wasnt much though. You should never judge or be judged when discussing charity. More than half the money collected never gets to the charity anyways. Fatcats and warlords fill there pockets.

Life is so financially demanding that charity payments are getting harder to find! That is why charities are having to become so innovative in how they make their money .... their income goes down every year. I have a penchant for animal welfare and send the RSPCA some money a few times a year ... only about £5 a time .... I wish I could send more. My only concern is that it is used well ......

I don't want to contribute charity to big corporation like UNICEF, RED CROSS, because I don't know where my money is going. I don't believe the whole money goes to the right hands.
I rather do small contribute to charity, like giving my clothes to the poor, gather money from my friends twice a year, buy groceries and bring it to the poor families...

Once when I was in real estate
I rented a house to a guy who
was getting a divorce, and had
to move out of his house.
He was a mousy little guy,
and you could tell he was
getting the bad end of the
divorce. By a lawyer he was
probably having to pay for!

His wife was keeping their
home and everything in it.
He was allowed to take
his clothes and his truck,
and that was all.

I felt so sorry for the guy
that I gave him half of
everything I had in my home.
Half the dishes, half the
dishtowels, half the toilet
paper, half the cleaning
supplies, half of the bar
stools, etc.

He was in such a shocked
state over the divorce that
he didn't even realize how
much he was getting, but
I am sure at some time
later it dawned on him,
and when he was able
he "passed it forward."

In England, I'm afraid that we have to give to Charity regularly the country is in such a state, to many foreigner's, and a government that hasn't got enough brains to switch on the telly and see what people think of them.
Hospice's are run on charity Air ambulances are run on charity.Life Boats run on charity Hospitals rely on people to give their time to look after patents. that's not counting all the old people and English children we raise money for to send then over sea's for treatment because the N.H.S. can't afford it.
