The Foodlover's Companion. It's not really a cookbook, but it's a dictionary of anything and everything food. I've been a chef for quite a while now, but every once in a while, something new will pop up and throw me off. 99% of the time, I will be able to have my answer just by looking it up there!

I love the Better Homes and Garden cookbook. Its great for a beginner. Along with providing wonderful recipes, it also gives tips on cooking, and even teaches about different foods, like how to prepare them, or measure them, etc. Plus it is divided into sections that make it easy to find what you are looking for. You can also check out www.allrecipes.com there are tons of recipies on that site. Good Luck!!

I feel the Betty Crocker one is the best, However if you have a computer there are websites that are just as good for example the Food Network is great you can choose from the Chefs of your choice. Hope I helped.

Depending on your culture - and your tastes...
I like Spirit and Spice...there are many recipes for my culture. Also like Kosher by Design, which is one of the most popular cookbooks on the market for Jews nowadays.
AND, then there is the famous...INTERNET SEARCH! Want a recipe, google it!

It depends. I say the Art Insitute cook book. Over 800 pages on different recipes. Or you can also do anything from the food network.
