the idea of it. Some people say that it has no beginning and no end. Some say eternity is no time at all. It boggles my mind. I think of it when i think of the afterlife with God. Do we have memories when we are with God. If we do then there is time after all because when we think of past memories there will be a concept of time " past, present". If we have memories at this state of being then eternity seems a long unending time. Its feels you are trapped in existence "like in a complex fish bowl, everything is repetition throughout eternity. Think of being completely in the moment all the time. For us this is practically impossible, because we are thinking of what we have to do tomorrow, or an hour from now....or what we didn't do yesterday, or what may happen next week, etc. I think eternity will be an experience of constant "now". If you've ever experienced that, if just for a second, it's amazing. There is an astonishing alertness. Heaven will be more beautiful, more perfect, more full of joy and love, fulfillment and peace than we can imagine. There will be no fear, no dread, no insecurity, only perfect assurance in the presence of our Most High God.

The bible says in heaven, we will not remember the "former things" of this world. And by the way, I hope you do know, that only those who know Jesus Christ as their savior go to heaven. If you do, you have nothing to fear and everything to look forward to.

Right on! Eternity has scared the bejabbers out of me for what seems eternity.
THEN a thought: Eternity isn't about me, but about God. God can probably handle it.
a) Memories - tough call. We're not married according to Jesus. Moses and Elijah seemed to recognize each other at the Transfiguration.
b) Time - the psalm states a 1000 years are like a single day with you. If we are changed for eternity, evidently time is also.
c) Not to fear about trapped, God has never forced anyone to hang around, even Eve and what's his face.

have you ever heard the saying "time flys by when your having fun?"
can you imagine having so much peace of mind and being so happy and having so much fun that you actually dont even think about what day it is or what hour or what year or what century? that is what eternity would feel like in heaven.
eternity in hell would be the exact opposite as well. if you can imagine being in the worst pain for hour after hour and watching the time drag by so slow, until its a new day and then the hours drag by again, until a year has passed and then it drags on longer until its been 10 years and then 40 and then 100 and then 173,937,863,384 plus years and your still in the worst pain you can imagine.....thats eternity, and it just keeps on going endlessly.
but if you are going to heaven, there is no reason what so ever to fear eternity. it will be the most amazingly peaceful, feel good, wholesome thing you can imagine over and over again never ending. its like waking up day after day and never ever ever having a bad day or a bad experience ever again. and each day you get to do something new and fun and see something even more beautiful than the last day, and you never get old or tired or sick or hungry or feel any sadness or pain ever again. how can you fear that? *smiles*

What you want to know about is life and death .....both are very real as see ....I'm sure u know people that have died while u were alive ....but death and dead are 2 different things , there kinda like the laws of 2 diff. countries ...here in america u must be 2q to drink , in ireland an most of euorpe u have must 18 or less.....life and death are ruled by the same concept , but 2 diff princples...If you belive in GOD then you already know what I'm talking about ...
In the law of man you live and die ,and then u hope theres an after life , remember man is a fickle thing , and we still cant replicate ourselves even though we know the basic building blocks , or so we think we do ....ask any scientist to build you a himan being , he can't and there's a very good reason for it ...sure he knows what we are made of and hell he might even be able to clone us , but u know what a clone is , its when u were in grade school and were trying to draw spiderman , sure the teacher told you , you did a great job and the drawing was perfect ....but the teacher forgot to mention the part where you traced , you didnt really draw , its symantecs and dont be fooled by it .......In LAW in which you were born the lord has promised you life and after life ...in life you are free , in the after life you will see what you have made of the previous life , but certain things will appear to have not changed , this is grace of the lord ....when ur mom died , you will forget all about it as though she has always been there , when ur dog sleepy died you wont remember that either....but the moist important thiing to rememeber is when you go there will never be another one like you....when u go you dont know , but the others do .....so be good , so the lord can be good to you

O.k. - let me review your question. Your IN heaven, with GOD. And your worried about time?
O.K. - If I may, why would time be a consideration? Wouldn't being IN heaven, make memories real, as in actually replaying the good times with the actual people?
How could you feel time IN heaven? You forever content IN the presence of GOD!
In all of the places in all of human thought heaven has NO scary anything - heaven is the only place where no one can get scared. Do you see this? Your IN heaven! You will be totally relaxed, totally beyond human understanding while your alive - but really totally relaxed.
You can not be scared IN heaven.

Any Judeo-Christian (or Islamic) idea of heaven would require a kind of amnesia. Say you go to heaven and a dear friend or loved one goes to hell. How can any decent being have a fully joyful expereince with that knowledge? Your question points to one of the major problems with a biblical take on eternity.

Eternity is like one day where you are going, its nothing to be afraid of. In fact there is no real time except the present. God said," I AM." What do you think it meant??? When the world drops away there is only peace.

It is a little scary, I guess. And more than a little ridiculous. You don't have memories in heaven, because the processes of forming, storing and retrieving memories all take place in the brain, which can't function when you're dead. For the same reason, you won't be conscious when you're dead. You won't be able to see, hear, feel, smell, taste or think.

Why does eternity have to be a trapped existance? Why does eternity have to be boring? Why does eternity have to be like this life except with no death? Eternity just like life is what you make it. Personally myself it beats the alternative.

.If you knew all that goes on there, and what it's like, you would want to go right now, I can wait.
We all Hope we go to Heaven, where the grass is greener, it's like earth, bigger more beautiful, trees plants, mountains, crystal clear water -river of life, animals, some you never see before, go up to the Lion and hug him, birds, many many children, babies from abortions, you have a home already build, the desires of your heart, singing, beautiful music, children playing harps, no shadows, just light, the colors have brighter color, and some new ones, you'll meet Jesus, and God at the throne. Everything is alive, plants turn around when you pass them as if they can see you, you can walk on flowers and not smash them, they kinda spiritually go through your legs, drink water from the river of life, eat the copper color fruit that gives you strength to with stand God's glory, meet Jesus, see him coming a goriest light, emerald through Jesus clothes looking like diamonds, children singing around Jesus. some angels these with wings flying above God, see the baby spirits-thoughts of God flying around God's head, wanting to be a redeem person. Eternity with no dust or cleaning, even the grains of sand look like their alive in Heaven...... did I tell you to much, all that and so much more, your going to love it..... I am being sincere. it's not scary, earth is- earth is dying
