The Simspons have got to be up there because they are the longest running prime time sit-com show ever -animated or not. I believe it started in 1987.
My favorite, however, is (well, was I guess LOL) Beavis and Butt-head.

Family Guy most definately. Better yet, check out American dad :¬)
In my humble opinion, the Simpsons has become a bit too long in the tooth with some storylines petering out halfway through only to be replaced by some weak or outlandish ending. It used to have some clever jokes and some great film 'nods' but they're becoming few and far between and don't get me started on the ' celebrity' voice-overs !!
Don't get me wrong, I used to really enjoy the Simpsons but I reckon it's only because of it's early success and huge marketing profits that have kept it going for so long and unfortunately because of that Fox will end up flogging it to death rather than retiring it gracefully for another show.
Mind you the same could be said of Matt Groening - while the cheques keep coming he keeps ambling along. Pity really, I thought Futurama was so much better but it seems that money rates higher than originality in the world of TV

Family Guy, hands down. I was always a Simpsons fan but Family Guy blows them out of the water. Much more intelligent humor while the Simpsons have really covered EVERYTHING at this point.

I am not fond of either but I guess I would have to say the Simpsons... I use to watch it alot when I was younger, but now I can understand the humor in the jokes and some are just mean and the jokes about God is what turned me off from the cartoon...but thanks for your answer on my question...it was sweet!!
