No. I have probably had over 30 different molds in my lifetime and while some of them definately tasted bad and were slightly uncomfortable, none of them were painful. The actual braces on the other hand, are a completely different story.

No! I recently had a mould done on both top and bottom and it doesn't hurt. Basically they mix this liquid up and place it into some teeth guards, you can normally choose the flavour, i had bubblegum and they say open your mouth, then they place it there and tell you to wait a few second and then you done, they'll do the same with your bottom teeth! after your mouth tastes abit funny cause you will have some of the mould stuff stuck to your teeth! but there is absolutley no pain whatsoever.

not usually no...but it does feel a little odd. :P

I remember getting braces and they even asked what flavor I wanted. :P

They put the mold material into a styrofoam or plastic holder and place it in your mouth around the teeth. It's a little thick, but the only thing you need to worry about is residue sticking when it's removed and drooling. :P

The ortho might place both in, up and down, at the same time to match the overbite/underbite up but it is usually thin enough that it is not a concern.

Ask your dentist to check for periodontal problems such as bleeding gums, cavities or gingivitis. There may be a pain reliever or some surgery they can do to improve the situation or else, flouride treatments.
