"How great thou art".. because it reminds me of the awesomeness of God.
"it is well with my soul"..because the storms in life do pass away but your soul is forever and as long as it is well there, no storms can take that from you.
"victory in Jesus" because without him there is no real victory in life.
"Holy, Holy, Holy" the ultimate praise song!

I have two favorites. One is "Shout to the Lord" and the other is "Blessed be the Name of the Lord". The second one is very special, because the day after my father died, that was the first song sung in church that morning. My 91 year old dad...who was a mocker and scoffer all his life, accepted Jesus Christ four days before He died. That day in church, knowing God had reached down and saved my father, was like no other. So every time I hear the song, I remember God's grace and look forward to the joy of seeing my Dad.

Beautiful songs all. They also indicate your age. I note "A Mighty Fortress." Martin Luther, lyricist borrowed his melodies from the beer halls of the day. Christian music continues to evolve. I would put Jeremiah Was a Bullfrog by 3 Dog Night down as my favorite. It is secular but it is spot on with Jeremiah's message and my understanding of our freedom in Christ.

"He Hideth My Soul" because I love the words to this hymn it reminds me of when Moses was hid in the cleft of the Rock and God covered Him with His Hand and then God MOVED and then Moses got to see God's Backside. What an awesome awesome experience this must have been!!
Also " Standing on The Solid Rock" because I like the words.
Also " Cloudless Day" because I long for this day.
Also " When The Roll Is Called Up Yonder" because I like the words. But my ALL time fav Hymn is ' He Hideth My Soul"

When an entire church is singing that verse, the power behind us seems extroardinary, and the power of God, so much extroardinary than that- It's just an awesome song. And I believe that no other song, no matter how much more complicated or praisy sounding, can equal the strength or realness of this.

I surrender all, Amazing grace. for hymms. But usually sing chorus' more. When I worked with addicts freedom came from surrender to Jesus, therefore I surrender all. Amazing grace is the basis of all else.
