destroy, no. but it would harm the enamel. drinking a little water after would decrease the amount of exposure to the acid. if you did that the acid wouldnt have as much time to react. I wouldnt worry.

I know that the enamel on your teeth is extremely strong, one of the strongest surfaces in nature. But as far as standing up to acidic solutions, I'm not sure. It would be hard to test any ideas though, but I would think your teeth would be fine if they only had to withstand lemon juice. What would be much more harmful is the bacteria that accumulates after eating just about anykind of food (since bacteria love to find food in dark, warm, and humid places, like your mouth). Come to think of it, the acid from the lemons might kill some of the bacteria and thus prevent the destruction of your teeth. Biology and chemistry sure are profound sometimes. Is profound the right word?

The acid in citrus especially lemons and limes can destroy the enamel of your teeth. So can the sour candies that are all the rage nowadays, contain a lot of ascorbic acid and should be eaten with caution.

I managed Dental offices for 9 years and the answer is.. definitely YES. In fact chewable vitamin C vitamins can do the same thing. So be careful. Brush your teeth well soon after and drink lots of water. Make sure you get regular check ups so your dentist can keep tabs on your teeth.
