I don't know about 20 in a month that sounds a little dangerous but food thats high in protein-often for athletes, body builders help with muscle. Here is a website.

To gain 1 pound per week, you need to eat 500 calories above you maintenance level each day.
Your maintenance level = weight in pounds x 16
So if you currently weigh 140 lbs, your maintenance level would be roughly 2200 calories per day
So to gain 5 pounds a week you would need to consume nearly 5000 calories per day.
But you can only gain 2 pounds of muscle at most per week, so any more weight gain would be bodyfat.
So you want to put on muscle,
eat 5-6 meals per day
eat a portion of protein with each meal e.g chicken breast
eat lots of starchy carbohydrates e.g. pasta and bread
increase calorie intake as above
drink at least 2 litres of water per day
get at least 8 hours sleep per night
maybe take a vitamin
maybe use a weight gain drink if is is difficult to eat enough
If you want to gain muscle you need to work out. Try starting with this full body workout 3 days per week and increasing the weights slightly from 1 workout to the next:
Squat 10 reps
Deadlift 10 reps
Pullup 10 reps
Bench press 10 reps
Bicep curl 10 reps
Tricep extension 10 reps
Shoulder press 10 reps
Calf raise 10 reps
Shrug 10 reps
Dip 10 reps
So basically, you could gain 20 pounds in a month but a lot would be fat which would be very unhealthy so set a target like 9 pounds in a month.
Hope this helps, e-mail me if you want anymore advice

well bud 20 pounds is a lot!
if you want to gain weight you will need food supplements, eat 5-7 meals a day and weight lift heavy, take 2 or 3 whey powder shakes a day and don't do no cardio if your bulking.
keep in mind that the meals MUST BE HEALTHY,
no McDonald's,no fast food at all, eat a lot of rice and chicken, fruits and veggies.
in other words eat good carbs. pasta is a carb but it's not all that great for you......then again it's a good fuel.
well hope you reach your goal bud.

Well, if you want to gain weight you could always gorge on McDonalds. If you want to do it the healthy way eat up on the carbs and exercise, you'll get more toned plus you'll put on the weight cause muscle weighs more then fat.

20 pounds in a month would be very UNhealthy. I have heard of 10 pounds in a month but not 20. Go to www.bodybuilding.com they have an article about gaining 10 pounds of lean muscle in one month

Stop eating junk food. Stay away form those fast food joints. I am sure that is why you are gaining weight.
Start eating protein, fresh fruits and vegetables and exercise.
