Unlike our President who dives face first into any 'situation' the common thought is that 'discretion is the better part of valour.' If the 'situation' will leave you dead or bleeding.. backing away seems like a deal to me.
In our society, we have double digit mentality that goes so far as asking "What do you mean by that???" when a stranger says "Hello." Of course, Love is the Answer. Isn't it?

Depends on the situation........
Who will get hurt by the consequences if you back down or continue.
Sometimes discretion is the better part of vallour........
Sometimes you have to fight in what you believe!
