My windows mediaplayer wont play videos.?

It happened after I ran an optimiser program on my computer.I deleted my recylce bin after also so I cant reset anything that the optimiser program took out of it.I tried downloading a new windows media player but the same thing happens.Anybody got any ideas on what i can do.

If you have Windows XP, try doing a Restore Point.
There is a good chance it will fix the problem and it can't hurt.
Worth a try
