IUD's are fine with tampons.

I have had a IUD for a while now along with a Mooncup that would probably be slightly higher risk, although hell I would rather dump my IUD than my cup any day.

The only menstrual options that are advised you have to be careful with are either softcups or diaphragms as menstrual cups because they are high up next to the cervix so could pull at the strings if you are not careful, but tampons, sponges, and bell-shaped cups all sit in your vagina so well enough away from the cervix and the IUD strings.

Any increased risk would come from the risk from using tampons themselves - i.e. TSS, vaginal infections, etc. - that may lead to higher risk of infections further up within your body as a result of the IUD.

Last time I checked an IUD was inserted in the womb....beyond the cervix. Tampons go in before the cervix. Under normal circumstances it should be all right, however, tampons and IUDs in the past have been known to cause Toxic Shock Syndrome, TSS and actually has lead to a number of deaths from uninformed individuals.--usually when they were left in for long periods of time.

and IUD might be a miracle device, but I still shy away from them. If I was you, I'd make sure I had common check ups to keep tabs on the item.

Yes, tampons are safe. That form of birth control was developed so as to not interfere with other aspects of your life, i.e. your period!

Instead of tampons, why don't you check out the MoonCup!

I don't see why not, but you should ask your gyno, she'll be able to let you know for sure.
