these same people, who invited themselves to our house very boldly and directly and in my opinion rudely, though it did not seem so bad at the time(please see my other question if you have time) also invited themselves along on a cruise vacation i am going on with my hubby and our baby girl. What am i to do? The way they did it, i wasn't around, and my hubby, who talks far to much, felt a bit uncomfortable and was embarassed to say no. he told me he doesn't really want them to come. they are supposed to be good friends of my brother, through whom we met them. how do i get rid of these people, and why do you think they want to follow us around? are they after something or am i being paranoid? i dont know them well at all and i have an uncertain feeling about the characters involved!

We all make choices. Tell these people you have planned in advance a vacation for just you two and your baby, and that maybe some other time you all can get together for dinner or something. You must choose not to let others run your life, or....you will be sharing your life with people you don't wish to be around.

People that invite themselves to your home or anywhere else are
to be avoided as far as I am concerned. If they have to force themselves on others there is something wrong. How often do you see people having to invite themselves somewhere. If they are well liked etc they will have friends of their own. This is your
life and they are intruding. Both you and your husband need to tell them that this vacation is special and a family deal only. Tell them that you are doing this to be alone with just the two of you.
If they don't like it what are you losing? A couple of pest!!

I say you tell them that you had planned on getting away with your little family for some alone time, and it really wouldn't be appropriate to have guests. Tell them you and your husband need some time alone. Heck, maybe you can tell them you are planning on working on a new family member, and won't have the time to visit! lol

"Invited themselves along" on a cruise vacation?
Having taken several cruises myself (and going on another one in Oct.) I know they are not cheap, so if they have decided to book (& pay for) themselves on the same cruise as you, simply do not tell them your stateroom number, and if they find you, or are in any way threatening or inapproriate, simply tell one of the ships security officers.

Well, if they aren't expecting you to pay for their vacation, you can just avoid them as much as possible, requesting berths far away from theirs, and different dinner sittings. if they are expecting you to pay, just don't, and they won't be allowed to go with you.

You have to stand up for yourself & put your foot down & tell them how you truly feel.
