I am going to my husband's graduation from bct on the 7th. I was just wondering what takes place during the ceremony and afterwards? We don't get a chance to talk much, so he hasn't really been able to tell me anything yet? Thanks to anyone that can help!

Typically, the families and friends are in bleachers, the graduates march around a bit, then they stand in formation looking sharp while a couple of speakers speak, then they march back to their barracks. The families follow and the graduates show them where they lived and introduce them to their buddies, drill sergeants, etc. Then they get a pass with their families before heading off for AIT.

This varies, of course, from company to company, post to post.

If you really don't have much direction, you can look on the post website and they usually have some kind of guidance for families of graduates.

Basic Combat Training graduation starts with all the BCT companies marching onto the parade field. Once they are all assembled the person conducting the graduation makes the opening coments and introduces dignitaries and speakers. Speaches are made, awards are given to distinguished graduates or companies that have achieved some milestone.
Once the order to dismiss is given the soldiers are free to mingle , take pictures and visit with their family and friends.
