Go to your nearest Department of Motor Vehicles office and get an application for a new one. Cost is minimal. Most get you the copy while you wait (might take up to an hour though). You MAY have to send it to the lender who holds the note on it, if there is one, and have them fill out a section and send it back to you before you can present it for the copy of the title.

ask for a duplicate one from the motor vehicle department,,if you find the original after you get a duplicate one,,the duplicate one has to be used as the original will be voided out by the dmv as they have numbers on them,,,,i do not know if you have to pay,,you can give them a call...
