Take a sick day, if you're feeling that upset. It's a perfeclty legitimate reason; your mental health is every bit as important as your physical health.

And seek counseling if you find that this is becoming a trend in your life. Depression can be overcome, but it must be addressed, or it will only get worse.

I agree with popstar and susan, I have always had the routine that I leave my private life at home and when I get to school (I teach jr. high), I am totally into the kids. The same goes for problems at school, I leave them in the classroom over the weekend and deal with them when I get back. I guess it takes practice, but it's worth it.

Going to work helps me if I am upset. There is comfort in the routines of my job and it helps me to forget my problems for a while, or at least, get some perspective on them.
