or a salad plate or a desert plate? They both look alike to me! Can someone tell me the difference?

Place Fork, large or Dinner Fork
Usually measures at 7-1/2" to 8" in length. This is the larger for in a 4-piece Dinner Setting

Salad/Pastry Fork
Used for salad and dessert, usually measures 6" to 6-1/2". This is the smaller fork in a 4-piece Place or Dinner Setting.

A salad fork is for eating salads. A desert fork is for eating something in the desert (maybe a cactus plant. I don't know.) Then of course there is the dessert fork, used for eating cake or pie.

A salad fork is larger and will have more prongs.
