You're eating more because you are depressed.
You lost your job, you just came off weed, you are insecure about women.
If you sort that out you will eat normally again.
Try not to worry about what you're eating at the moment, get yourself mentally healthy and the rest will fall into place. Seriously, make an appointment with your doctor and go and talk about this. Even if nothing comes of it, talking about your problems out loud can really help you start to move forward. Good luck. x

To be honest, you say in your question that you lost your job and this may be a large factor. Do you find yourself with too much time on your hands? boredom is a classic cause of overeating so if that's the case i would just try to keep yourself occupied with exercise or some kind of physical activity and that will also help you with your fitness levels. If getting a girlfriend is something that motivates you to get fit then i wouldn't totally let go of that because anything that encourages you to take care of yourself is a good thing but if you lack confidence then you should try to look at that some more and maybe talk to someone about how you improve your self esteem, good luck!

Simply eat less but do not make a big step in food intake just eat a bit less every day. Two potatoes instead of three, one potatoe instead of two. Once slice less bread and so on. You need willpower fads do not work.
You eat a lot because your blood sugar goes low. Complex carbohydrates take time to be digested and release 'sugar' gradually a shot of an easily digested sugar gives a quick lift and then a feeling that you are hungry again. Eat bread and other starchy food.
In particular cut down on fat, it does not satisfy a hungar pang but it does containg 2 and 1/4 times as much energy per gram as carbohydrates or protein.
BTW everybody DO NOT eat foods with artificial sweeteners or bulk sugar alternatives in them they are not a way to reduce weight. Your body tastes 'sweetness' when they are eaten but feels 'cheated' when your blood sugar does not go up and you feel hungry..

Make sure you are eating a sufficient amount of protein (meat, yogurt, cheese), which makes you feel satisfied longer than a sugary treat or a carb laden meal like pasta or a sandwich. Low fat milk is also a good choice.
Drinking water fools your stomach into thinking it is full.
Next time you get hungry, take a walk around the block, shoot some hoops, ride a bike or go for a run first, Your cravings might just disappear.

Eat many (5-7) small meals per day. Don't gourge yourself with big meals, and don't eat late at night. Try to eat healthy snacks too. Also, put down the X-Box controller and play actual sports, not virtual ones. Being confident in yourself is a much better way of getting a girlfriend than losing wieght, by the way.

.... You actually gain weight by eating less because your metabolism slows down to conserve energy. Eating moderate amounts to somewhat hefty amounts really raises the rate of your metabolism to work harder at burning calories. Starving is the worst and not to mention slowest option at staying/becoming thin. You should exercise too (cycle, swim, or simple crunches and lifting lightweights). You will tone out, be thin, and look good by following this method. If you decide to do crunches and lift weights, do 100 crunches and 100 reps per day with 5 pound weights (you're a guy!). Spread out the 100 to 50 twice a day or 33 three times a day and one extra the last time you work out. Spreading it too far out won't make a difference in your metabolism.
Don't be afraid to eat, just don't overdo it, for example, if you're full, you're full. If you're not full, but you're not hungry, eat a bit more.
For dating advice, be confident! Girls don't like guys that don't feel good about themselves. Start eating, exercise, and find ways to build up your self-esteem. When you hit the local bar/club/hangout/whereever you can go in your age group, girls will come to you if you give off a good vibe that says "I want a girl that wants me." If you have trouble being confident, just play things calm and cool, and take deep breaths at times if you need it. Remember, not all the girls around you are single so be patient.
The more important thing right now (if you're 18 and older or you live alone) is to find a job. Do that right away.
If you don't think that my method of being thin is good enough for you, it's helped me lose 20 pounds. Results aren't immediate but it is most certainly a healthier way to live and still be thin. Starving yourself really is a horrible way to stay thin, and is ruining your body. Girls won't want a guy with a messed up bod. Don't be afraid if it shows in your belly, many girls won't mind. There are plenty of girls whom date guys (and I'm a teenager, I've had plenty of friends like this) with flabs or are overweight (and sometimes obese).
Seriously though, if you're worried about it showing in your belly, start eating regular amounts and work out from time to time, it will help you be healthy and it will help you feel better about yourself once you get some muscle.
Do NOT, ABSOLUTELY DO NOT cut back on carbs or protein or even water. Carbs, despite what the media's twisted view of Atkins has displayed, are very, very, friggin' important. Complex carbs (such as pastas, sugar is a simple carb just to let you know) are the main brainfood and energy source for your body. Protein is needed! Cutting back in saturated fats and oils is what you should really do to stay healthy. Do not be fooled by such diets such as the Atkins diet or the Southbeach diet. Although healthier than Atkins, the Southbeach diet is still rather unhealthy due to the amount of fat that they suggest you consume. Atkins diet is a very, unhealthy and risky diet. Considering that the majority of the food you eat is fat (body burns fat after carbs, if there are no carbs left, all your body burns is fat), cholesterol (more than needed because you don't need that much) builds up.
Whatever you do, just follow my method, and go see a doctor about the condition you're in considering your health. Do not go on low-carb diets! Just stay away as much as you can from saturated fats and oils (an egg a day is okay though).

I would say that if you are eating more maybe your metabolism is slowing down & the only solution to keep your tummy trim is to do stomache crunch exersises. Also try to eat healthier foods rather than junk foods. High-fibre cereals & bread will help with roughage so that fat can be broken down.
Good luck hun

drink water. Sometimes, your body mixes up hungry signals with dehydration and a glass of water is all you need. HOWEVER, you shouldn't worry about what you look like to get a gf. If a gf is going to judge you on wether or not you have a "belly" then do you really want someone that shallow? You need to build up your self-esteem. Better take care of yourself and put you first.

Try drinking water or if its cold, drink green tea. Apparently it burns calories, but that might be a myth. If you crave something specific buy small quantities of it and it is better to eat a small amount of what you crave than a lot of something else (you will still end up eating whatever you crave).
