Well, they clearly go mad over the Bible (and that's fiction), look how they behave in the real world. Look how religious parents behave as well. Religious parents let their children read the Bible.
Many parents don’t allow their kids to watch various TV programmes or movie films, or read certain books, because they contain too much hatred, violence, killing, and murders which may cause negative thoughts and behaviour in their children.
However these same parents allow their kids to read the Bible, yet the Bible contains some of the worst hatred, violence, killing, and murders ever witnessed in humanity. Certainly the Bible also contains some nice parts as do many of these other books, TV and films.
This is just hypocrisy when it comes to the Bible. In a child’s mind, hatred, violence, killing, and murders are all troublesome, yet the Bible is by far the worst offending material ever written by man.

In your own question lye's the answer, if it would hurt peoples faith. For those that have no, or hardly any, faith it would more than likely hurt them. Not to mention the morality going down the toilet, with all the garbage in books and movies. We as Christians should be appalled by such books and movies.

Well, for example, that book that everyone was making such a fuss about "The DaVinci Code". All fiction. But presented as fact. If people actually believed the stuff in there, that would be quite terrible. I have no problem with fiction. I do have a problem when people use books to lead people away from the truth of God's word, in a covert fashion.

even with the reality that i'm catholic, I in no way bought into the propaganda approximately Harry Potter, or maybe though else they have boycotted. the comparable element occurred to me whilst they boycotted The Golden Compass I did bypass see it even with them through fact Harry Potter became staggering, how undesirable might desire to or not it fairly is? For the 1st time I understood their motives, to not the comparable quantity, yet I understood why. in comparison to those different issues it became needless to say anti-christian and theres not something that pisses me off extra advantageous than somebody attacking someones own ideals. besides, they actually care approximately people who could do this? I mean rather their protecting their faith, they don't supply a **** if an atheist is going to an atheist action picture. They, for even though reason, fairly have faith that those issues are against their faith and that they are going to placed their word out no count what. faith is above good judgment each and every so often, there arent a team of clergymen making plans a physique of recommendations to not say something so no one is going to be certain a action picture or in any different case. Its all approximately perception and not something so trivial as social reception.

It depends on the book or movie. I'm a grown woman but my children still need guidance and I do control what they watch or read. Children have such impressionable minds.

It depends on the book or movie.
A book thats....let's say....blasphemous and insulting of their deeply heart felt religion? Maybe a movie filled with nudity and profanity that they cannot enjoy with their children.... come on now, what could possibly be the problem?
For the record...I'm a bit older and my children are grown. No kids in the house. We do not watch or read anything that is trash. I don't have the time left to waste.

It depends what it is. In the case of the Da Vinci Code, it was pushed by many including the author as being "true" when it is anything but and does harm to the church by teaching a false gospel.

Are you referring to Harry Potter, The Da Vinci Code, and other such? I'd say insecurity in their faith.

Why does any fundamentalist group think they have a monopoly on morality and all rights of censorship? We muslims do it too as I'm sure there are those amongst Jews, Bhuddists, Hindus and any other group, religious or not, that feel free and open thought and irreverent questioning is a threat to thier brainwash and voodoo.
