Electric grills are faster and less hassle. But the food wouldn't taste like that as on a charcoal grill. Charcoal and wood gives off a smoky flavor to the food. Electric grills on the other hand, doesn't do that at all unless you add those things like store-bought wood chips for grilling. I think that's so much more trouble, but I go with it because electricity and a non-stick grill is less trouble than a bag of charcoal and a dirty grill.

No because your leaving out the product that produces the "smoke" and thus the flavor.
It's the smoke from your wood and charcoal that adds to the flavor of the meal.

What will also be missing are the flames which like a torch sear the meal (IE fish, meat, shrimp etc.), it burns a small layer giving you that "grilled" taste your searching for.

You can add lava stones and mesquite or hickory chips, but that only defeats the reason you bought an electric grill, you lose the simplicity of grilling

Absolutely NOT!
Against my opinion, my husband bought a George Forman indoor grill. I was very upset...told him it was wasted money, that I much preferred a REAL grill. WoW...what a mistake I made.
Now, I prefer the GF more than any other type. The food comes out tasting absolutely yummy...the fats drip down the middle runner...the final product is great.
Now, (feeling like an idiot), I wouldn't change grills if my life depended on it...unless, of course, we run out of electricity!.

buy a cast iron grill. let it get hot and it sears the same as an outdoor grill minus the smoke flavor.make sure your vent works.

It makes no difference what you use to cook food.
Forget the taste and make sure the food reaches the correct temperature.

Not quite as good but I've found that it does a decent job with chicken or fish if you're in a pinch. Steak was awful though !

Not really if its the indoor kind.
Outdoor ones you can add hickory chips to help . You need the flame for the taste.
