Yes. My African Grey Parrot, Sammi, who is 21 with only one eye speaks with a Welsh accent some words which he learnt before I had him and now, because I have a London, Cockney accent, he has learnt words like "Babes", Mama loves Sammi and Woo Woo Birdie with my accent.

Its quite funny cos he goes from Welsh to Cockey in a sentence. In his Welsh accent he ses "Ah lovely boyo" then he will continue in Cockney with Woo Woo Birdie Woo Woo.....

Amazing, I think.

Yes they speak with accents, but only if the person teaching them has one. My parrot mimics me to a tea and all of my friends answer believing I have talked to them. My friend has a cockney parrot, brought up by a cockney Nan!!
Its all about teaching them with the tone you wish them to speak.
They can be intelligent enough eventually to hold a conversation with you, but in all honesty it is most likely to be a learned response. Keep talking to them though, the more they know the funnier and more endearing they are. Try teaching your parrot a foreign word or an american accented phrase, you will see!!!

All Parrots usually have a very throaty voice emphasising on the alphabet T. May be he can pronounce the words like an American ( yep for yes) but not a very clear and precise accent like a talking Maina.

The Cockatoos are the fastest learners. You have just to tell them once or twice.

Yes. Most of the parrots renown for talking don't even use their own sound of voice. They use the voice of one of the people closest to them. Macaws do have their own voices, and they will pick up accents too. It's the way that they think the words are.

Parrots not only imitate the words, but also the accent, tone, etc of the person they are imitating, Our parrot repeats phrases in my voice and my wife's. They have been known to imitate other sounds such as can openers, dot matrix printers, dogs barking, etc.

Yes they DEFINITELY DO my cousin from London bought one after hearing my parrot talk and was annoyed that when it started to talk it had a Cockney accent and not a Belfast one.

My parrot is a rescue bird and he studders just like his first person he lived with. And he sounds just like him also! he also sound like the noises in the original owners house. He curses, and studders, and makes cat and dog noises and phone, doorbell and yells "police, open the door"! Scared the heck out of me when he first YELLED that! ha ha

There are a bunch of things you should know about dog training but we are going to discuss what I feel are some the most important. Keep in mind that these are only some of the things you should know. Go here http://OnlineDogTraining.enle.info/?5exe

1. Repetition is the number 1 principle of dog training. Dogs just like humans learn by doing things over and over in order to get better.

2. Dog Training can and should be fun for both you and your new pet.

3. Training sessions should always be short but sweet. I never work a dog more than 15 minutes in a session to keep from losing the dog's attention. You should train you dog at least once a day but never more than three formal sessions a day.

4. Your goal should be that each training session is just a little bit better than the last one. You need to always strive to make the training better, slowly. I mention this because quite often I see people who do daily training sessions but the dog never gets better and it is not the dogs fault.

5. Having patients is very important in dog training. Losing your temper does not work with a canine it simply makes things worse.

6. Exercise is very important in the training process to get rid of all the dogs nervous energy.

7. Taking your pet for walks is very important because it develops serotonin which gives your dog a feeling of well being.

8. Always be sure to give your dog a bunch of praise in your training. It is your dog's paycheck for doing a great job.

9. Never hit your dog. I have heard people say I never hit my dog instead I roll up a magazine and swat it. It's the same thing... hitting is hitting.

10. After each training session be sure to do something that your dog will enjoy. Take it for a walk, throw the ball or maybe even rub its belly. Just do something that makes the dog look forward to the next training session.

These are things that I teach my dog training students as well as my dog training clients. I hope these things will give you something to think about when training your dog. Spend some time training your dog daily and you will both reap the benefits.
