folded up on the floor was a five pound note. thinkin it was my luck day i picked it up only to find it was half a fiver. I have had it in my purse for some time. It has serial number is it still legal? Or worthless?

It's worthless. Someone else might have the other half.
Both of you cannot turn in halves and expect to receive 10 pounds between you. The fact that you have the serial number makes no difference.

Banks usually will exchange it if they have both sides (or part) of the serial numbers, but not only half of the bill. They need to be able to compare part of the numbers.

If it has the COMPLETE serial number, you have a fiver. Good fortune. Now use it to buy us some fish n' chips.

u have many options: first, u can throw it out because it's worthless. second, u can keep it as a collection. third, u can keep it and try your luck finding the other half through out your life. forth, u can keep it in a frame as an art. fifth, u can call central bank to let them print the other half for you.

Sorry! unless it's just missing a tiny bit in the corner it's probably worthless. Go to the bank they will tell you. They might offer to trade you with a good one.

if it's more than half you can trade it out, but they dont want people coming in 5 different times with little pieces of the same bill.

Buy half a kilo of grass seed with it and when you plant the
seed it should come up half cut.
