What motivates atheists to hate, persecute Christians and attack the Bible?

Allow me to list a brief list of groups that I do know to hold Christians in contempt. Homosexuals, pedophiles, animal sacrificing “satanist”, al-queada and most muslims, communists, Hitler and his henchmen, stalin , and an endless multitude of depraved humans sadists and sociopaths who are incapable of understanding the humanism of people such as mother teresa and the legions of those who are motivated with love and compassion to sacrifice their own needs for others based on the teachings of Christ and other wisdom found in that book they so despise.
Can you add other reasons?

Unlike ANY other religion out there, Christianity is the ONLY that teaches that mankind is fallen by virtue of their sin and is therefore condemned. Most worldviews teach that mankind is basically good, and with a nudge can be great! Any fool that claims that humanity is basically good obviously didnt take 20th century history.

Um, most homosexuals do not hold Christianity in contempt. There are many Christians who are gay or lesbian. I've heard of many pedophiles who claim to be Christian, even ministers and priests. While I think they are disgusting, I don't think they actively hold the religion in contempt. Most Muslims do not hold Christianity in contempt; most Muslims are good people. I'm not sure about Satanism, as I don't really understand it. There are conflicting reports on Hitler's true religious views, but officially he was Catholic and celebrated Germany's Christian heritage. I wouldn't say all Communists hold Christianity in contempt because in many cases Communism is forced upon them. However, Al-Qaida, some fundamentalist and extremist Muslims, Stalin, and some Communists do hold Christianity in contempt. But Stalin, Hitler and his henchmen are dead, so why do they matter in your question? They aren't attacking Christians or the Bible now (and Hitler never did publically).

I'm an atheist, and I don't hate or persecute Christians at all. neither do the atheists I know. I do not feel that I attack the Bible, but I do challenge it for its many inconsistencies, and the parts that are very similar to other, earlier religions.

What do you say when it is the Christians who are doing the hating and persecuting?

With due respect to your ideas an belieft, why dont you answer the question of why religious people cant fathom peoples that choose not to believe in what religious people do.

Most atrocities were commited by religious bigotry than anything else in the world, and that includding all the people and traits that you describe put them togeder.

i was born, and baptised Roman catholic, (i didnt have a choice since i was a baby) but once i matured and was able to have some intelligency of my own, i found that many of the teachings i received was all crap.

First, atheists are being persecuted more than Xians, at least in Amerika. The first Pres. Bush claimed that atheists shouldn't be considered American citizens, the current Pres. Bush thinks he was chosen by God to be President, and millions of voters are voting for candidates that will try to interfere with a woman's reproductive rights, with equal rights for homosexuals, and a parent's right to not raise their children according to a bronze age mythology.

Second, only one item in your list is exclusively atheist: Stalin, and he was a power mad dictator; atheism was just another tool he could use to control the people. Hitler compared himself to Martin Luther, and claimed he was doing God's work; Muslims and Al Queda worship the same god Xians do; animal sacrificing Satanists believe in your god but want to work for the enemy; pedophiles, sadists, and sociopaths often believe there is a god, even if they don't worship him. Homosexuals are being actively persecuted by Xians, and are trying to be treated the same as the rest of us.

When you know what you are talking about then try asking again. Your question is filled with hatred, ignorance and out an out falsehoods. IF you had any idea of what your Bible preaches then you would never ask such an asinine question. There is no way to properly answer a question like this because you don't want an answer you just want some blind follower to agree with your idiotic and off base opinions. It's "Christians" like you ... that make people like me very glad i gave up trying to find meaning and truth in Christianity. They have no belief system other than their own thoughts. When we are left to flounder on our own, our minds can come up with much hate and persecution. When your mind is left open as they say theirs are, it is very easy for Satan to step in and take control, this is what drives them. Even though they say they do not belief in Christ or Satan doesn't mean they don't exist. You can belief something with all your heart and be wrong. I realize that as a Christian I can not prove their is a God , or Satan. But, there belief system based on science is starting to breakdown, it will not hold up forever. As science learns more and more about the universe and man, it will, if given enough time prove their is a God, it has already began, and they don't like it. I do live in the real world and I see it perfectly, the good and the bad, they see what they want, and hear what they want. They live in denial and will pay the price if they don't except the truth as written in the scriptures. God Bless!!

I find that Christians hate just as many of these. Who doesn't hate a pedophile? Who doesn't hate Hitler? Stalin...depraved sadists. No one has persecuted more than the Christians. Look at history. Look at witch-burning, killing for blasphemy, the Inquisition, the Crusades, on and on. I don't think you can say that all atheists hate anything.

I believe the hatred is a response to the unwanted and unwelcome persistence of Christians to try to enforce their beliefs on people who already have beliefs of their own. I know that, as a Christian myself, I would strongly resent someone of another belief system to INSIST on converting me to their viewpoint. I enjoy discussions on different beliefs, but I don't want to be CONVERTED.

Have you also considered the fact that certain groups you mentioned (homosexuals in particular) are actually persecuted by Christians? Christians need to re-evaluate their behavior. Name any group who was persecuted by Christ and His followers. Christ loved ALL - unconditionally. Anyone who does less is not a Christian but a pretender - a "Pharisee".

The same thing that motivates Christians to hate and persecute those that don't agree with them. Honestly, if you preach acceptance, you have to practice it. And don't judge any one whole group of people based on a label. Each person makes up their own mind and answers to their own personal beliefs, and if they choose to hate another group of people (whether it's someone of a different religion, race, or sexual orientation) it's not because of their own race religion etc. It's just their own prejudice.

By pedophiles do you mean catholic priests? Why are you generalizing. Not all atheists hate or persecute Christians, that is silly. My roommate is gay, and he's Christian. And I'm sure plenty of pedophiles, sociopaths, etc. ARE in fact christian. If they are christian, they can do those bad things, and then feel better about themselves because god will forgive them, because they've accepted Jesus or whatever. You don't sound like you are thinking straight. I'm sure at least half of all inmates in prison are christian. Care to explain that?
