B.F. Skinner's book "The Analysis of Behavior" co authored by James G. Holland. It explains fundamental research on human behavior that is replicable and hardly disputable. It just explains how behavior works and why. The book is available as a programmed text on line free at bfskinner.org.
Epictetus' students wrote "The Enchiridion", a fundamental Stoic text. Short, clearer than the Buddha, Jesus, or Mohamed and a whole lot more useful as a religious text today. This book is available free on line in a number of translations. Do a search.
I also like Jimmy Carter's writing and Tom Peters business books.

Almost everyone I meet has touched me in one way or another, and there are many people who have inspired me to perservere despite everything that happens...

I guess the more important are the following (in any order):
My friends from college and high school for being my comrades through everything from failed exam to crammed project to emotional/personal crisis...

The kids I met in a public school that I taught in as part of my outreach project...for showing me how valuable education is.

My younger and older brothers...other than my mom they're practically the only familiy I have left...

Jesus Christ...his teachings do inspire me to at least try to be a decent lad, especially in those times when I fail to be such a person.

These and many others for me are the best proof I have that there is a God who cares for us.

My priest, my campus minister, and my catholic group on campus have been very inspirational to me. They help me out alot. We do fun stuff together sometimes and I don't think college would've been this much fun if I hadn't met them. My priest always tries to be there for us college students and he's my spiritual director. My campus minister is always there to help us out if we have a problem. And then there are the other students. I've been through so many adventures that I otherwise wouldn't have even thought of. I've taken to hiking, camping and backpacking, despite the fact that the last time I went, we were on a mountain and in the middle of the night ended up with 40 MPH hail pelting our tent, Now my friends are teaching me to drive. Whatever doesn't kill you, though, I guess makes you stronger.

Grandmother, whom I didn't know much about, until seeing her after Mother's death. From then on she was Mom, mentor, confidante and best friend. After being abused and neglected by my parents and living in several foster homes, as an adult I had no family ties. When she died at 96, I knew more about her than her own children did. She was a fascinating, intellectual person, who endured, her own Mother's death and being adopted,The Great Depression, a husband who physically abused her and all the children, mental illness/shock treatments, death of a 3 yr old, death of husband and 3 adult children preceding her in death. She taught me that every day is worth living, no matter what comes our way.

I had a Sunday school teacher when I was a little girl in second grade. Her name was Sister McGluin (sp?) She was a woman of God and she just loved the Lord so much and followed His leading. She loved me with His love at a time in my life that I didn't believe I could be loved. I never forgot that love that touched my very heart and now 40 years later and a born-again Christian who serves the Lord with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength, I find I am so thankful that God put her in my life for just that little bit of time. It has impacted me greatly. She is with the Lord now and one day I will meet her again and thank her for her obedience to love with the love of the Lord.

I didn't have a great home life even though my parents took us to church every opportunity. They had some addictions they hid from the rest of the world and that made home life chaotic.

When I was in about the 3rd grade, I got really sick and Mom was working and couldn't take care of me, so the preacher's wife (her name is Brenda) took care of me. She was a very kind, compassionate person who took care of her family and home. She was "available" in a way my mom never was. I wanted to be her when I grew up.

She dressed very modestly, she was soft-spoken. She's not someone you might remember meeting at a party. But she was hospitable and warm.

My mom was pretty attractive and she flaunted that. You'd remember her. But you'd remember her for her outward appearance. I still remember Brenda for her kindness and her authentic nature.

Ms Lori Koch. She was the greatest teacher and mentor that walked the face of this earth. Very spiritual, real, warm and genuine. Unfortunately her life was cut short from a drunk driver. It's a terrible thing when bad things happen to good people.

No one. Even my parents weren't great role models to me. I don't find people to be great role models, as a lot are selfish and act for selfish reasons. As far as inspiration, I simply use anyone who has already achieved what I wish to.

The ones that have most touched my life are the ones who have shown me love. They stand out, and leave warm memories in my heart.
