Since God likes to speak through man as in the bible, why is it not happening today with cures for the children at least. Why does the omnipotent God not make things better?

The first thing that someone should be considering is whether the idea of sin is actually real.
If God is supposed to be perfect how could She have made anything or anyone that wasn't perfect.
Think about it. The idea of sin assumes certain things about God that seem highly unlikely.
First it assumes a God who is too incompetent to organize a simple educational field excursion and figure out a way to get all of the students home safely.
How likely is this that God would not be smart enough to come up with a plan for our salvation that is going to work?
It also assumes that God must have created us imperfect if we are sinners.
One might assume that God would be able to create someone perfect each and every time if he chose to. Assuming God is capable of this, then it follows logically that we must be perfect creations if we are actually creations of this perfect God.
Unless of course you are saying that God chose to create us imperfect.
If God created us imperfect then anything that may go wrong is Gods fault, not ours. This seems a bit illogical at best so I think that we need to assume that What God creates would have to be perfect.
If this is the case and Gods creations are perfect, then nothing that we can do could change what God created perfect and make it imperfect unless we think that we are more powerful than God is.
How likely is it that we the creation could be more powerful than the creator. I personally find this idea somewhat amusing, and a bit absurd.
Religion tells us that God is perfect. If this is true then it could hardly be logically for Gods creations to be considered to be anything less than perfect.
If this is the case then Nothing that we can ever do could possibly change this perfection that God willed, unless we were so powerful that our choices could override and change the will of God.
How likely is that????
Think about it.
The idea of sin is simple nonsense; a lie made up about God by religion.

There are some misconceptions you have that need to be cleared up. First, no one is born innocent. We are all born with a sin nature and a tendency to sin, yes, even children. God does not hold them accountable, however, until they are old enough to know what is right and what is wrong.
Right now, we live in a sinful world and because of that, there will be suffering. The suffering is not limited to only adults, but to everyone, mostly because of sinful choices of others. For instance, a child who is molested did not in any way do anything to deserve it, but an adult made an evil choice to do that.
While God certainly has the ability to stop anyone from doing evil, God has chosen not to in order to give us free will. If God stopped people from doing evil, then people would no longer have free will and would only be merely pre-programmed little robots who were incapable of doing anything on their on. We would only be able to do what we were programmed to do. Choosing to do good would be the only thing we could do. We would be unable to choose to do evil.
As long as there is free will to choose to do good or to choose to do evil, some will choose to do evil. Unfortunately, we all suffer at times at the hands of others. That is part of living in this sinful world.
Remember, the ONLY One who was completely innocent and sinless was Jesus Christ and He was put to death for all of our sins, something He didn't deserve at all.
Why doesn't God make things better? For this reason: if He did, then people would say He was unfair because He FORCED them to make the decisions they did (decisions to do good instead of evil). Please keep the proper perspective on things. This life here on earth is merely a speck of dust on the carpet of eternity. In eternity, God will make it all right. Until then:
2 Corinthians 4:16-18 "Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."

because the people have free will, and a lot of people could help themselfs if they'd get up off there dead butts,
Adam’s sin brought a curse upon all the physical world, including animals and plants, which obviously are incapable of sin and are therefore innocent. So while an innocent baby can die physically, his spirit would automatically go to heaven by virtue of having never committed any sins. Since all physical life became mortal (destined to eventually die), all offspring would pass this mortality to each succeeding generation, because the mortal cannot produce the immortal. We suffer the physical consequences of that first sin, but not the guilt.

Children are not born innocent. "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God". However, because of God's Grace, children are saved by Christ. I don't know why they have to suffer. I suppose as all suffering does, it can make us stronger in our faith. It can also show us our weakness and we could fall away from God. This is a no answer question that I hope to have answered someday when I meet God. Until then, pray hard live the life you have been given to the fullest, no matter what.

We're in this jacked up situation because Adam was not only the first man, he was the first Wimp. He let Eve talk him into eating a piece of fruit after she consulted with a serpent. This is odd because God used to come down from Heaven and talk to those two everyday in the cool of the evening.
That is the NUMBER ONE REASON there is so much suffering in the World.
The number two reason there is so much suffering in the World is the fact that God puts the Rich and Powerful in place for HIS Pleasure. God would delight in the rich using their money to feed and care for those that suffer.
This is what Jesus went through with a young, rich man.
Matthew 19:19-24
19 'Honor your father and mother.' And,'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'"
20 The young man said to him, "All these things I have observed from my youth. What do I still lack?"
21 Jesus said to him, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have, and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me."
22 But when the young man heard the saying, he went away sad, for he was one who had great possessions.
23 Jesus said to his disciples, "Most certainly I say to you, a rich man will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven with difficulty.
24 Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the Kingdom of God."
2 Timothy 2:15
Give diligence to present yourself approved by God, a workman who doesn't need to be ashamed, properly handling the Word of Truth.

Your question has a lot of embedded assumptions in it that you may need to challenge in order to find the truth.
For example, there is the assumption, which is based on the now traditional (for Western Christianity - but not for Eastern Orthodox Christianity) theology of Anselm and Aquinas that Jesus was essentially the scapegoat who had to pay the price for the original sin and die in order to assuage God's anger. In this view, now that God's anger is supposedly assuaged, why do people still have to suffer (since in this view, it is also God who makes people suffer as a punishment for sin).
This view is completely incompatible with ancient and original Christianity - the Christianity of Christ and the Apostles - which still survives today, alive and well, in the Eastern Orthodox Church. In Orthodox theology, which is the true Christian theology, we understand that the only people guilty for the sin of Adam and Eve are Adam and Eve. There is no such concept as "original sin" that makes everyone guilty. There is a concept of "ancestral sin", which has unfortunate consequences for all of creation, and from which Christ the Saviour saves us.
The difference is that, as a result of the ancestral sin of Adam and Eve, humans were born into a world of corruptibility - i.e. physical decay, disease and death. This is the result of the separation from God, Who is Life, due to a turning to desiring created things instead of desiring the Creator. It is not a punishment meted out by God, but a consequence of the wrong turn made by our fallen forefathers. If you are in a car with someone who makes a wrong turn and gets lost, then you end up being lost too. When Adam and Eve separated themselves from God and introduced death into the world, all their offspring became subject to death and corruption. Christ came to save us from death and corruption.
So the omnipotent God does make things better by giving us a way out - resurrection in His eternal life. But we still have to experience corruptibility and death in this present age (although for those who are sanctified, the signs of eternal life already start to exhibit themselves even in this world).
The point is, God is more concerned with our eternal life - the eternal life of blessedness in His presence that both our bodies and souls will partake of. He allows us to experience the futility and sufferings of this world - although He did not create them - as a means to show us what we have fallen into and to help us turn back to Him in a relationship of love that can lead to eternal life.
So you have to look beyond the temporary things of this world to find the answer to your question. I hope this helps.

No one is born innocent. We are all born into sin. Even the cute little babies. He did make things better. Many of us suffer in this life, and it may or may not have anything to do with our own actions. But when we all go to live with Him, we shall suffer no more. With all that is going on, sometimes it is hard to see it.

Why does everyone blame God when things go bad?
If you believe in His word, then you know that this life is not the 'end-all, be-all' it is made out to be -- we are striving for a better place. Since this world is not our home, it does not have to be perfect, as some, including the questioner, would like it to be.
