George Washington was the greater military strategist because he was actually a general in a war he should not have won. Washington had military experience and took part in the actual planning and execution of the war. It was a brilliant victory because he defeated a far superior enemy. Lincoln had no military experience and won a war he could not lose. The North had a far superior military with the money and industrial might to back it up. Lincoln did not participate in any of the military strategy he left that to his generals. The south had no chance of winning the war because they had no industry or money to defeat a far superior Union army. Any president could have won the civil war.

Washington was the only one of the two who could claim military intelligence. Lincoln was a lawyer who then became a politician. Washington was a general who then was prodded into politics by the people he led to victory...nevermind that the only reason we won was because King George decided he didn't want to spend the money it would take to take it all back and teach us a lesson we'd never forget. No, America was as much by chance as by design...but go with Washington for that answer because it's true.

George Washington. He had less resources, less trained men than his foe. He had to win victories just to keep most of his army fighting for him. His supply lines were tenuous to say the least, Abraham Lincoln, all that is holy keep, had none of these problems and he didn't have to worry about actually planning the battles and playing politician to get the resources to fight them. The First Civil war was won almost in spite of most the Americans. For most of the war more colonists fought for the British than for the Congressional Army Given the obstacles George Washington had to face, and all the roles he had to fill to overcome them he was the best.

Abe Lincoln was only a captain. George Washington was a general. Not even close. Washington's better by a mile.

George Washington, since he actually fought and was a great general during the Revolutionary War. Abraham Lincoln himself was not a general.

I would say Washington, because he was a General. Lincoln was just the President and had Generals making military decisions during the war.

You can't really compare them. Washington was a general, a real leader. Lincoln was a lawyer and politician.

Washington was a better general (and military strategist) and Lincoln was (arguably) a better president.
