I have short, curly-to-wavy hair, & some people say it looks ok, & others say it looks very stupid. I must admit...my hair is stubborn, trying to lay down. I try to slick it down with thick gel & water, but it only works for a few minutes & then poofs back up.

don't slick it down... curly hair is BEAUTIFUL if is styled properly and the right products are used in it. first of all, continually putting water on it to keep it down will do nothing, it will actually make it frizzier..... you need to find yourself a nice light product for curly hair... that has lots of moisture in it. when you have moisturisers in your hair it keeps the frizz down and your hair can sit more in a curl then a right mess. some ideas of things you could try is using a hair moisturiser for the frizz.. and then use a curling mouse, or gel to keep the shape of the curl.... some suggestions on moisturiser.... PPS The Ends, DeLorenzo The Ends... Curling Products - PPS Bend It, and every company has a mousse...

There is a product line put out by Matrix, which specialises especially in curly hair. It's beautiful. It's called sleek look. It's all designed to help people with hair like yourself... to tame the curls and make them more manageable. It's also especially designed for stubborn curls. Give them a go. Also, using a curly hair shampoo and conditioner makes a world of difference...

SPeaking from experience.. I'm a hairdresser...

You should try using a straightener, here is what you should do:

1. SHAMPOO my hair with Pantene Clarifying Shampoo [removes all gel & hairspray from the day before]

2.CONDITION with Gardiar Frutius [ good for frizzy hair]

3. DRY my hair with a towel

4. SEPERATE your hair by taking all of it and clip it up, except for a thin layer on the bottom

5. BLOW DRY the thin layer of hair

6. APPLY lotion [just any kind, just make sure you like the smell :] evenly to layer of hair.

7. STRAIGHTEN the layer of hair.

8. UPCLIP another layer and do the same thing [blow dry and put lotion] until you straighten all your hair.

9. STRAIGHTEN any bangs that you have.

10. APPLY Crew wax [ you can purchase at any salon, I know it's for men but it works awesomely] to the top of ur head [where the fly-aways are]

You don't have to believe me about the lotion but it works, I promise. Just don't put too much [put about the size of a nickel for each layer of hair.]

In your myspace picture, your hair already looks slicked down. And the hair style does not compliment you.
Why not just let your hair be natural and do what is natural?
Anything natural usually is what looks best.

For that type of hair i would use a straightener then put hair-spray or something on to hold it in place.
