We already paid the state of Pennsylvania 2.8% on our gross salary when it was earned... Will we pay tax again when we collect it?

No, social security is a loan that you give to the government. Once you reach the age to collect it the government will tax you.

No. Your state may not tax. but Federal only taxes, IF you work and collect Social Securtiy. Only 85% of the Social Security will be taxed. But only if u make over so much. Can't remember the figure off hand. Mostly a lot of ppl who work dont make enough to get their ss taxed.

No, Pennsylvania does not tax social security or pensions. You don't even report them.

If you receive the rent or property tax rebate, those amounts do count toward the limits, although only half of your social security is counted.

Im pretty sure you do not have to pay tax on your social security. After retirement as long as you are not earning money elsewher when you are collecting it , i dont think you even have to file income tax
