When you're cuddling, etc. why not thread your fingers through hers or press your palms together, etc. It will at least give you some idea of how big her fingers are - if they are much smaller, or just a little smaller. etc. and go from there.
Or is she very similar to her mother as most women are? If so, talk to her mom or her sister and try the sizes out on them. Most rings have to be resized anyway. If in doubt, go a little larger, so she can at least slip in on her finger when you pop the question.

Chances are, you are not going to be able to size it properly, and that's ok. It is best to go big, so you can downsize it rather easily, but even if you unfortunately choose a ring that is too small, it is to be expected that the ring will have to be sized. Any jewelry store will surely size your ring for you, most of the time it comes with a free sizing. Don't panic, just get through the proposal and the ring size will be an easy adjustment.Just a little info. a tiny petite woman will usually have a small ring size, where as a larger woman will have larger fingers and require a larger ring. I'm not being sarcastic, but you really can give an educated guess due to her size or at least get close.

Just get the ring in any size, maybe a little too big...It is easy to have a ring re-sized so that after the fact you can both take care of it. Also, if you buy the ring from a decent place they should be able to help you decide the size.

SO I would go with someone who said tie a string around her finger or have an accomplice. Because I wear shoe size 7 1/2 and ring size 6 and how small are big she is doesnt really matter because some small women have shorter meaty fingers and some larger women have long slender fingers. The only way to tell for sure is to measure her finger.

Roughly estimate the size of her ring finger. Then get some key holder rings around that size and pretend to play a game with her fingers by saying that if the key holder ring fits her then that key belongs to her to open up some box or whatever and a prize is waiting for her. Remember to keep the correct key holder ring for gauging the size of the ring that you are going to buy.

Well, I just have to throw in, don't go with the shoe-size suggestion. My shoes are a size 11, and my wedding ring is a size 5. So much for that.

Oh...how sweet! But I don't know how to help you. Maybe you could give a brief description to the jeweler about her height and weight. Jewelers handle so many ladies' fingers they'll figure out what ring size would be the most accurate for your girlfriend. Even if the ring doesn't fit, you can bring the ring back to the jeweler to resize it. Most jewelers offer that service free of charge.

well if you guys are living together or occasionally "sleep" over at each others then wait until she falls asleep andput a ribbon around her finger and then mark it with a marker or measure it and take that measurement to the jewellers..im sure they will understand how you got the measurement when you tell them its a surprise.but dont worry because itf the ring is too big or too small then just ask the jeweller if they will size the ring for no cost.have fun.

You can guess. I think most girls wear around a siz 6.5- 7 You can get the ring and then take it to get it sized. Ask the jeweller for the most poular size. I'm sure they would know. Or you can find a friend with similar build and ask them what size they wear. OR have a trusted accomplice (girl) have her try on one of her rings and then see how it fits.

do you wear a ring? you could play around jokingly and have her try it on. then you'll have a guestimate of how small or large her finger is compared to yours.
I would say just go buy the ring. Most places have them in sizes 6 or 7 which is average. If it turns out too big or small, you can always have it resized later.
